About Our Community of Artists
Every baithak at Swarveni concludes with a moment of gratitude, where we felicitate our guest artists with a traditional Tulsi plant or plaque. This is our humble way of acknowledging the 'Sadhana' they bring to our space, creating a bond between the performer and our community that goes beyond the stage.
Our Gurukul in Rohini is not merely a school. It is a 'Swar Mandir', a temple of music, where we protect the Guru-Shishya parampara. When you enter our community, you join a circle of 'rasikas' who understand that Hindustani classical music is a lifelong study, not a weekend activity.
We regularly host established maestros and rising talent for intimate baithaks. These gatherings are stripped of the artifice found in large concert halls. There are no raised stages or heavy sound systems to create distance between the artist and the audience. Instead, you sit on the floor, at the same level as the performer, allowing you to observe the subtle movements of the hands on the Tabla or the breath control in a vocal recital.
This community exists to preserve the integrity of our ragas. Whether it is a seasonal concert like Malhar for the monsoon or a commemorative 'Raghunathanjali' tribute, every event is intentional. We welcome anyone with a genuine curiosity to learn, regardless of age or experience. If you are seeking a space where respect for the artist is paramount and where the silence between notes is as important as the notes themselves, you are welcome here.
Our doors in North Ex Mall, Rohini, are open to those who treat music as a form of prayer. We invite you to sit with us, listen to the masters, and perhaps find your own voice within this tradition.
