Singing Classes for Beginners: Discover Your Voice
You don't need a perfect voice to start singing. My students prove that whether you are shy or just looking for a way to let go, anyone can find joy, confidence, and their natural expression in our community.
Here are some beautiful glimpses from my Pune workshop. Listen to what the participants have to say about how they found new confidence and learned simple, effective techniques to enjoy singing without fear.
It brings me so much joy to hear stories like this. This wonderful student shares her journey from being a shy "bathroom singer" to finding her confidence in just a three day ghazal workshop. This is the transformation I wish for everyone.
Age is just a number when it comes to singing. Here is my dear aunt, who is also my student, sharing how she has found so much happiness by rediscovering her voice with Swarmaanas. Singing is a companion for life.
About Student Transformations
You don't need a trained voice to join our sessions. We start by working on your breath. Most of the inhibition people feel comes from physical tension in the throat. By focusing on diaphragmatic breathing and simple Omkar meditation in your first few sessions, you naturally release the blockages that make you feel like you cannot sing, helping you shift from a 'bathroom singer' to someone who enjoys their own melody.
Your Transformation Journey
At Swarmaanas, the goal isn't to create the next playback singer. The goal is to help you find your 'bhaav' (emotion). Many of my students walk in with years of hesitation, believing that music is only for those who were born with a gift. But over my 23 years of teaching, I have seen hundreds of people discover that their voice is actually a tool for happiness.
How We Build Confidence
We approach singing as a form of therapy. Here is what you can expect in our classes:
- Breathing Basics: We start with diaphragmatic breathing and Shankh Mudra instruction. This isn't just for singing; it helps regulate your nervous system and reduces anxiety.
- Emotional Connection: We focus on expressing emotion, not hitting perfect notes. Whether it's a ghazal, a bhajan, or a light Bollywood song, we teach you to sing from your heart.
- The Community Factor: Learning in a group is transformative. Seeing others struggle and improve gives you the permission to be imperfect. Our regular batches often become a support system where laughter and music go hand in hand.
Real Stories of Change
I have seen students arrive for a simple weekend workshop and leave with a newfound ability to hum through their day. One student, who previously only sang in the bathroom, found the confidence to join our regular Tuesday batches after just three days. Another, a senior citizen, rediscovered her love for morning riyaz (practice) after years of silence. These aren't just singing lessons. They are steps toward shedding the fear of judgment. If you are ready to stop comparing your voice to others and start singing for yourself, I am here to guide you.
Swarmaanas
Namaskar, I am Manasi Kelkar Tambe. People often tell me they cannot sing, but I believe music is for everyone, not just the talented. Through Swarmaanas, I help you move past fear and comparison to find your own expression, whether through light music, bhajans, or just singing for the sheer happiness of it.
