Building Community and Connection in Jayanagar
We believe growth happens together. Join our circles for parents and learners to share stories, find support, and navigate the journey of alternative education with us.
This video highlights the importance of community in the alternative learning world. It explains the purpose of COILS, a consortium we are part of, which brings together parents, educators, and learners to share resources, have honest conversations, and support one another.
About Building Community & Connection
When you walk into our circle, do not expect a lecture or a list of parenting tips. We hold space for honest conversation, where the goal is simply to be heard and to listen to others navigating the same challenges. Whether you are curious about unschooling or just need a safe space to talk through the struggles of screen time, we keep the dialogue focused on shared experience rather than advice-giving.
Our community work is rooted in the belief that everyone is walking their own path, but no one should have to walk it alone.
Why We Facilitate Circles
We saw too many parents feeling isolated in their choices, whether they were exploring alternative learning, managing screen time, or simply trying to support their child's emotional regulation. These circles are non-hierarchical spaces. We sit on the floor, we use simple props, and we foster a environment of deep listening.
The COILS Network
Svadhyaya is a proud part of the Consortium of Open and Independent Learning Spaces (COILS). This network brings together families, educators, and learners from across Bengaluru to share resources and bridge the gap between different schooling philosophies. By joining our circles, you gain access to this wider network of support.
What to Expect
- Listening Focus: We follow a strict protocol where we do not give advice unless it is explicitly requested. This prevents the 'expert vs. student' dynamic and empowers everyone in the group.
- Venue: These sessions happen at our Jayanagar center, a rustic, non-clinical space designed to feel like a living room rather than a classroom.
- Format: We hold space for everything—from the joys of unconventional education to the frustrations that come with it.
This is not a place for 'fixing' your parenting. It is a place for authentic connection where you can find others who value curiosity and dialogue as much as you do.
