Here I am presenting a traditional Qaida from the Punjab Gharana, known as "Kinaar Baaz". This was recorded in a session where we focused on capturing the authentic heritage of Indian classical music.

About In the Studio: Session & Recording Work
When I walk into a studio, the first thing I focus on is the tuning. Whether we are tracking a delicate ghazal or a complex fusion beat, getting the frequency right with precise mic placement is what makes the tabla sit perfectly in the mix. This attention to technical detail ensures the raw, organic energy of the instrument is captured, saving you significant time during the editing phase.
My Approach to Session Work
Tabla is my life's safar. In the studio, I work closely with producers and composers to find the right rhythm for the track. My playing is rooted in the Punjab Gharana, known for its powerful yet graceful open hand resonance, but I am comfortable adapting this to diverse styles, including Hindustani classical, film background scores, ghazals, and modern fusion.
Studio & Remote Services
I offer two primary ways to work together:
- Onsite Recording: I travel to your studio in Mumbai or Delhi with my professional tabla sets. This allows for real-time collaboration where we can jam, adjust the theka based on your feedback, and ensure the mukhdas and tihais hit exactly where they need to.
- Remote Sessions: If you are working from a home setup, I provide high-quality, 24-bit WAV stems. You send me your scratch track, and I record, tune, and deliver the final files within 72 hours. This includes a master take and two variation takes to give you options during production.
