About Awards & Press Recognition
Seeing House 111 win a commendation at the IIID Design Excellence Awards felt like a quiet victory for our belief in restraint. It was not about flash, but about how the charred timber and soft, tonal palette made the space feel lived-in and calm.
Awards are rarely the goal, but they act as a nice affirmation of the philosophy we hold at Studio Taan. Whether it is House 111 receiving a commendation at the IIID Design Excellence Awards or The Collector's Retreat appearing in Architectural Digest, our focus remains on creating spaces that matter to the people who live in them.
When Elle Decor highlighted House 111, they focused on our attempt to blend functionality with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We used charred timber, exposed brick, and a soft, tonal palette to ground the home in a sense of stillness. It is rewarding to know that the intention behind these choices, creating a refuge that breathes with the outdoors, resonates with the wider design community.
For The Collector's Retreat, featured in Architectural Digest, our goal was different. It was about building a home for a family of art lovers in Bangalore. We wanted the walls and furniture to be a quiet background for their personal collections, layering textures and light so the house felt like a personal gallery. The recognition these projects received proves that thoughtful, honest design holds its own in a world often focused on fleeting trends. We continue to apply this same level of care to every villa, apartment, and hospitality space we undertake.
