House 111: A Monochrome Sanctuary in Indiranagar
An award-winning 4,300 sq. ft. residence designed around natural light, quiet textures, and a profound connection to nature.
The heart of House 111 is this open-to-sky courtyard, featuring a magnificent olive tree. It acts as a serene focal point, grounding the home and bringing a piece of nature indoors.
This video provides a glimpse into the various spaces within House 111, from its light-filled corridors to its cozy, texture-rich living areas.
The open kitchen and bar area features a striking grey granite backsplash and countertop. It's a functional space designed for both everyday living and entertaining, continuing the home's monochrome theme.
A wider view of the kitchen and bar, showcasing the dark wood cabinetry that provides a beautiful contrast to the veined stone.
The formal dining space is defined by its elegant simplicity. A long, dark table is set under a series of woven fabric pendant lights, with sheer curtains diffusing the natural light to create a soft, ethereal glow.
The reflection on the polished dark marble floor enhances the drama and elegance of the dining area in House 111.
This living area, part of our award-winning design, features a backdrop of dark, charred veneer storage. The light grey sofa and soft textures create a comfortable space that is rich without being cluttered.
We designed the nursery to be a playful yet calming space. A jungle-themed wallpaper adds a touch of whimsy, while the furniture is functional, comfortable, and provides ample storage.
About Project Spotlight: House 111
In House 111, we replaced conventional layout ideas with an open-to-sky courtyard, anchored by a single olive tree. This was not just a design choice, it was a way to ground the entire 4,300 sq. ft. apartment in nature, ensuring that even in a busy part of Indiranagar, the home feels like a place to breathe and disconnect.
When we approach a residential project, we avoid chasing trends. For this Indiranagar home, the goal was to create a monochrome palette that felt layered rather than cold. We focused on materials that change with the light, such as charred timber and exposed stone, which bring a tactile quality to the walls.
Design Highlights
- The Courtyard: By integrating an open-to-sky space inside the apartment, we bridged the gap between indoor luxury and outdoor serenity.
- Monochrome Palette: We maintained a consistent tonal range using grey granite, dark wood, and textured fabrics. This allowed the home to feel spacious and calm, preventing visual clutter.
- Kitchen & Bar: The kitchen was designed to double as an entertainment hub. The striking grey granite backsplash serves as the main visual anchor, connecting the cooking area to the living and dining zones.
- Lighting: Instead of using harsh overhead lights, we relied on layered lighting with pendant lamps and wall accents to create a moody, intimate atmosphere for evenings.
This project, which received a commendation at the IIID Design Excellence Awards, is a reflection of how we view interiors: as a sequence of spaces that support your lifestyle. Whether it is the nursery, with its jungle-themed backdrop, or the formal dining area, every corner was planned to be functional, comfortable, and deeply personal.
