About Kitchen & Home Essentials
These spoon rests aren't just for show. They are weighted to stay put, and the smooth glaze makes them incredibly easy to wipe down after a messy cooking session. If you are checking out our party ashtrays, the lid flips to create a second, separate ashtray for sharing, which helps keep things tidy in any space.
At Studio Mudlife, we believe that objects you use every day should be the ones that bring you the most joy. We craft our kitchen and home essentials with the same care and high-fire stoneware techniques as our dinnerware.
Why High-Fire Stoneware?
Everything in this collection is thrown on the wheel and fired at cone 10 (approx. 1285°C). This makes the clay non-porous and incredibly durable. Whether it is a spoon rest sitting near your stove or a soap dish in your bathroom, these pieces are designed to handle heat, moisture, and daily wear without chipping.
The Glaze Process
We mix our own glazes, experimenting with combos like Rutile, Chun, and Shino. This means the finish on your piece is unique. You might see subtle speckles, pooling, or color shifts that happen inside our gas kiln—these aren't defects, they are markers of the firing process. It is what makes each piece one-of-a-kind.
Practical Care
We want these items to be useful, not just decorative. All our spoon rests, soap dishes, and ashtrays are:
- Microwave and Dishwasher Safe: Easy to clean and maintain.
- Thoughtfully Designed: Our soap dishes feature drainage holes to ensure your soap lasts longer, and our spoon rests are shaped to hold various ladle sizes comfortably.
If you are looking for a specific glaze to match your kitchen aesthetic or need a bulk set for a housewarming gift, just let us know. We love chatting about custom orders.
