Bringing the Outside In: Serene Mumbai Home Interiors
In the dense urban fabric of Mumbai, finding peace is a design choice. We transform standard apartments into light-filled sanctuaries by blurring the boundaries between your living space and the nature outside.

The living room in our Multilevel House was designed to feel like a part of its natural surroundings. A large bay window with a comfortable seat becomes the perfect perch to look out at the mature trees that envelop the home.
About Bringing the Outside In
Most people simply add a plant to a corner. We go further by altering the architecture itself. In projects like our Pink Marble House, we reconfigure windows into deep, inhabitable timber benches or install skylights that force your eye upward to the sky instead of across to the neighbor’s building. It is a fundamental shift in how a room feels during the day.
For a home in a city as packed as Mumbai, the ability to disconnect is the ultimate luxury. Bringing the outside in is not just about views. It is about spatial planning that directs your focus toward greenery and light, rather than the street noise or neighboring high-rises.
The Architecture of Light
In our Multilevel House project, we worked with existing mature trees that envelop the property. By creating a large, recessed bay window with a built-in seat, we made the exterior canopy part of the living room decor. This requires specific structural intervention—carefully framing the opening so it acts as a lens for the outdoors rather than just a source of ventilation.
Materiality and Nature
We are obsessed with using natural, honest materials that age beautifully with sunlight. We use teak wood for our benches and joinery because it warms up under direct light. In the Pink Marble House, we integrated planters directly into the custom timber benches. This is a deliberate choice: by pulling greenery inside, the transition between the indoor lounge and the exterior becomes seamless.
Key Elements we design for:
- Inhabitable Edges: We turn window sills into functional furniture, creating spots for reading, drinking chai, or simply watching the rain.
- Framing Views: We eliminate visual clutter around windows. No heavy drapes or ornate grills. Instead, we use clean lines to focus on the foliage.
- Sky Connections: Where horizontal views are blocked, we introduce skylights. In a duplex or top-floor apartment, these are essential to bring natural, diffused light into the heart of the home, changing the mood of the room as the sun moves.
Ultimately, these details are meant to slow you down. A well-designed window seat is not just furniture. It is an invitation to pause.
