Your bedroom should be a sanctuary from Mumbai's energy. We use natural materials and quiet layouts to transform sleeping spaces into calm, meditative retreats.

In the son's bedroom of our Multilevel House, the study table flows seamlessly into the platform bed. This integrated design keeps the room uncluttered and maximizes the connection to the two large windows and the nature beyond.

We aimed for visual softness in this master bedroom, using warm oak for the corner wardrobe with fluted glass. Paired with textured granite floors and a simple woven bench, the room feels calm and meditative.

This guest bedroom is designed to be a light-filled retreat. We used woven cane on the wardrobe doors to add texture and warmth, complementing the large window that frames the trees outside and invites nature in.

The master bedroom in our Multilevel House features a low, island-style bed that keeps the view of the trees unobstructed. The custom shoji-inspired wardrobe doors add a touch of Japanese minimalism and zen-like calm.

About Serene Bedrooms & Restful Retreats

Instead of pushing the bed against a wall, we often float it in the center of the room to frame the exterior greenery directly through the windows. This island-style approach creates a peaceful focal point while leaving the walls free for integrated, custom joinery that houses your daily essentials without visual clutter.

A bedroom is the one place where you should feel completely disconnected from the city's noise. In our Mumbai projects, we treat the bedroom as a machine for resting. The design starts with the layout—maximizing natural light and airflow—and continues into the specific material choices that dictate how a space feels to the touch.

Materiality and Texture

We prioritize honest, tactile materials. You will often see teak wood for warmth, cane or fluted glass for soft light diffusion, and lime plaster for walls that breathe. We avoid heavy, glossy surfaces that fight against the quiet atmosphere. For example, our work in the Barefoot House uses textured granite floors and warm oak wardrobes to ground the space, while our kids' bedrooms often feature bold, earth-toned ceilings to anchor the room's energy.

Layout and Flow

Our approach is highly custom to how you actually live. If you need a workspace, we don't just add a desk; we integrate the study table into the platform bed design, ensuring the flow is seamless and the room remains uncluttered.

Framing Nature

Even in dense neighborhoods, we look for ways to invite the outside in. Whether it is through wide, low-silled windows or shoji-inspired screens that gently filter the view, our goal is to maintain a constant, calming connection to the outdoors. A space should feel anchored, whether you are reading in a quiet corner nook or simply waking up to the morning light.
