Reimagining the beauty experience by blending soft minimalism with Art Deco tenets. For Snob Salon in North Bengaluru, I focused on creating a high-functioning retail space that feels like a plush, welcoming residence.
The entrance to Snob Salon is framed by a dramatic copper-finished arch, offering a glimpse into the sophisticated space within. This view highlights the layered design, with the sleek reception desk and statement lighting drawing you in.

The reception desk features clean, curved lines and a minimalist design, set against a backdrop of subtle wall paneling. The custom brand logo and artistic light fixture immediately establish the salon's chic, modern identity.

The pedicure and manicure station is designed for comfort and luxury. The rich red chairs and the recessed, textured wall niche create a cozy and intimate setting for clients to relax and be pampered.

The salon's waiting lounge is a blend of comfort and high style. I used custom-designed furniture, including a fluted sofa and a two-tone armchair, paired with vibrant pop art to create a chic and inviting atmosphere.
Looking through a series of layered, velvet-lined arches reveals the main styling area. This architectural feature creates a sense of depth and rhythm, guiding the eye through the space while adding a touch of drama.
The styling stations feature custom-arched mirrors and comfortable, modern chairs. A striking red arched door adds a bold pop of color and architectural interest, while large windows provide ample natural light.

Instead of using traditional, solid walls, I opted for a mix of suede curtains and fluted glass partitions. This choice creates distinct zones for styling and hair washing that feel airy rather than boxed in, allowing natural light to move freely through the 1,500 sq ft space while still maintaining privacy for clients.
Designing a commercial space like Snob Salon requires balancing high-traffic utility with a client's desire for relaxation. My approach here focused on Art Deco principles, using curves and geometry to guide movement through the salon. The layout rejects rigid, closed-off rooms, choosing instead to define areas through architectural rhythm.
We utilized pigment terrazzo flooring to add subtle texture and durability, which stands up well to daily wear while feeling premium underfoot. Rich crimson accents, seen in the velvet seating and arched door frames, bring warmth against the neutral wall palette, preventing the salon from feeling sterile.
Lighting here is twofold: it serves as a functional tool for stylists and as a theatrical element that sets the mood. By incorporating custom arches and capsule forms, we softened the room's geometry, creating a ceremonial feeling as clients walk from the entrance through to the treatment areas. Integrating greenery like snake plants and palms adds a necessary touch of vitality, completing the transition from a standard commercial floor plate to a boutique-style sanctuary.
