Our Architectural Portfolio: Biophilic Designs and Contextual Spaces
A selection of our work where modern architecture meets environmental sensitivity. We design spaces that blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, focusing on climate-responsive form and material honesty.
My design for this grand entrance plaza seeks to create a celestial arrival experience. The sculptural forms, set within a landscape of water and light, are inspired by the guiding spirit of the North Star, setting a tone of immersive, refined, and timeless architecture.
For this contemporary home in Mangaluru, I blended a dramatic, triangulated roof form with locally sourced Mangalore tiles and glass. The design is a dialogue between modern structural expression and traditional materials, creating a home that is both a landmark and a sanctuary.
This waterfront residence is designed to dissolve the boundaries between the home and the Gurupura river. A handcrafted wooden deck and an infinity pool create a continuous plane of water and wood, offering a tranquil space for relaxation and social gatherings.
This residence is a study in climate-responsive design, using exposed brick, lime plaster, and tiled sloping roofs for passive cooling. A prominent brick *jaali* wall provides privacy while allowing for natural ventilation, creating a home that is both sustainable and timeless.
In designing this apartment facade in Mangalore, I used clean vertical fins and curved forms to create a dynamic play of light and shadow. The design balances modern aesthetics with functional elegance, giving the urban structure a refined and cohesive identity.
For the Saritha Serene marketing office, I used a bold red perforated staircase as a central sculptural element. It contrasts with the serene indoor water body and biophilic elements, creating a vibrant space that embodies the synthesis of industrial form and natural tranquility.
The facade of the Drape Residence in Bangalore is an exploration of organic form. A flowing, fabric-like element wraps around the structure, contrasting with the perforated brick screen and creating a home that is a piece of habitable sculpture.
This rooftop pool and garden is designed as a serene escape within the city. The design integrates lush plantings, calm water, and comfortable lounge spaces to create a biophilic retreat that enhances well-being and offers a connection to nature.
About Featured
Our design process starts well before any structural drawings are made. We prioritize site analysis, studying sun paths and wind patterns to determine the orientation of the building, the placement of window openings, and the necessity of shading devices. Whether it is an urban residence or a larger estate, this early investigation allows us to create spaces that naturally regulate temperature and reduce dependency on artificial cooling, ensuring the home is as comfortable as it is striking.
Our Approach to Architecture
At Studio Naadi, we view every project as a dialogue between the built form and its immediate environment. Our portfolio ranges from grand commercial plazas to intimate, climate-responsive family homes. By utilizing local materials—such as exposed brick, lime plaster, and Mangalore tiles—we ensure our structures possess a timeless quality while remaining rooted in their geographical context.
Integrating Nature and Form
We advocate for biophilic design principles. This involves more than simply adding plants; it requires a structural integration of nature. We design courtyards that act as the lungs of the house, incorporate jaali screens for privacy and airflow, and create transition spaces that allow the breeze to move freely through the interior. Our goal is to craft a spatial language where the boundary between the landscape and the residence is seamless.
Technical Rigor and Execution
Architecture is as much about precision as it is about aesthetics. Our commitment to design fidelity includes:
- Comprehensive Documentation: From GFC (Good for Construction) drawings to MEP layouts, we ensure every technical detail is accounted for before work begins on site.
- Climate Responsiveness: We calculate wind and sun direction to position structural elements that naturally cool the home.
- Material Honesty: We celebrate the raw beauty of materials—raw concrete, steel, and glass—pairing them with traditional elements to create a contemporary, yet warm aesthetic.
If you are planning a space, we encourage you to start with a conversation about your site’s unique constraints and potential. We work best with clients who value a thoughtful, iterative design process.
