Bring the timeless beauty of Hindustani classical, ghazals, and semi-classical music to your next gathering with soulful, intimate live performances.

An attempt at a beautiful ghazal, 'Ranj ki jab guftugu'. The poetry and melody in ghazals are incredibly deep, and I love exploring their emotional range.

A home recording of the soulful semi-classical piece 'Mora Saiyaan'. This song has such a beautiful blend of classical intricacy and heartfelt emotion.

A throwback video of me singing a ghazal while my brother, Siddhartha Belmannu, accompanies me on the harmonium. Music has always been a family affair for us.

Singing 'Sanware Sanware', a beautiful semi-classical song from the movie Anuradha, originally sung by the great Lata Mangeshkar ji. These compositions by masters like Pt. Ravi Shankar are a joy to learn from.

A casual rendition of 'Hamari Atariya Pe' from the movie Dedh Ishqiya. This song has a wonderful folk and semi-classical flavour that is very expressive.

Another quiet moment at home with a classic ghazal by Ghulam Ali ji. The art of ghazal singing is something I deeply respect and enjoy practicing.

About Ghazals & Semi-Classical

For these intimate sets, I typically perform with a minimal acoustic ensemble, usually just a harmonium and tabla, to keep the focus purely on the poetry and the raag. It is perfect if you want an attentive, quiet setting where the lyrics can really land, rather than a high-volume stage setup.

The art of ghazal singing is all about the dialogue between the singer and the listener. Unlike large-scale productions where the backing track drives the energy, these performances rely entirely on the interaction between the vocals and the live instrumentation. My team and I specialize in the 'baithak' format, which works beautifully for house concerts, corporate evening soirees, or temple hall events where the audience can engage closely with the nuances of the performance.

Why choose this format?

  • Poetic Focus: We prioritize the lyrical depth of the ghazals and the intricate melody of the semi-classical compositions.
  • Authentic Acoustics: By keeping the setup to a tabla, harmonium, and vocal, the raw emotion of the music remains unfiltered.
  • Interactive Experience: These sessions are best suited for silent, attentive audiences who appreciate the slow-build of a Khayal or the evocative storytelling of a Ghazal.

Planning your event

To ensure the best sound, I recommend a venue with a quiet, controlled acoustic environment. While I am based in Bengaluru, I am happy to travel across Karnataka. If you are planning an event, we will typically need about 45 minutes for a sound check to balance the acoustic instruments with the room's natural reverberation. Whether you are hosting a small dinner gathering or a larger classical recital, the goal is to create a space where the music can truly breathe.

Music is simply how I breathe, and there is a special magic in the quiet intensity of a ghazal. Whether it is a small family gathering or a larger hall, I love sharing these pieces because they speak directly to the heart, without needing any big production to make an impact.
