Behind the Lens: How I Capture Real Baby Moments
Behind every great baby portrait is a whole lot of funny noises, nursery rhymes, and patience. Here is a peek at how I create a fun, safe space for your little one.
A little bit about what it's like to be a baby photographer. Of course, I've mastered baby talk, memorized every Cocomelon song, and I truly believe I have the best job in the world.
Warning: my goofy noises may cause excessive baby giggles! This video shows my team and I doing what we do best to get those authentic, happy smiles from the little ones.
About A Glimpse Into My Process
Getting a baby or toddler to hold a pose is not my job, and frankly, I think it misses the point. My process is entirely child-led. Whether we are in my Girgaon studio or at an outdoor location, I spend my time making silly faces, singing Cocomelon songs, and playing games to catch those genuine giggles. You do not need to worry about your child acting perfect; you just need to bring them, and I will handle the rest.
My Approach to Photography
I treat every session as a playdate first and a photo shoot second. My 'process' is really just a collection of tricks I have picked up to get kids comfortable. By the time I actually click the shutter, your child usually thinks we are just hanging out, which is exactly how I get those authentic expressions rather than stiff, posed smiles.
In the Studio
When we are at my studio in Girgaon, I control the environment to make it as stress-free as possible. This means keeping the lighting soft, the props sanitized, and the temperature comfortable for the baby. I have a closet full of outfits and props—from tiny armchairs to themed backgrounds—so you do not have to stress about styling. We take breaks whenever the baby needs to feed, change, or just have a cuddle. The timeline is always dictated by the little one.
Outdoor Sessions
For outdoor shoots across Mumbai, the process changes to match the energy of the location. We lean into the environment—beaches, parks, or gardens—to add a natural feel to the photos. Here, the process is more about exploration. I follow your child as they discover the world, capturing their curiosity as they walk, run, or splash.
Your Role
I always encourage parents to be part of the process, but there is no pressure to be 'photo-ready' in the traditional sense. You are there to comfort, play, and interact. The best images often happen when you are just focusing on your child and forget I am even there with a camera. We work as a team to make sure your family's unique bond is what ends up in the final gallery.
