Building Athleticism and Agility for Badminton
Badminton is as much about fitness as it is about skill. See how we use HIIT and conditioning drills to build court-ready athletes across our Thane and Bhandup venues.
We build well-rounded athletes with a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) routine. Our sessions progress from walking and jogging to shuttle runs and dynamic exercises like high knees and side hops.
Warm-up is where it all begins. We get our players ready for an intense session with dynamic stretching and light cardio to prevent injuries and maximize performance.
A proper warm-up is crucial. Coach Siddhesh leads the group through a series of movements to get their muscles firing and ready for the drills ahead.
Every practice starts with getting the body moving. Our players warm up with running drills under the watchful eyes of our coaches to ensure they are prepared for the session.
Our warm-up routine at Pawar Public School gets the kids energized and focused. We use cone drills to work on agility and coordination right from the start.
Agility is built step by step. Our players work through ladder drills to improve their footwork, speed, and on-court coordination.
Ladder drills are essential for developing the quick, precise footwork needed in badminton. Our players practice various patterns to enhance their agility and speed.
About this collection
You won’t find us just standing around. Every session starts with a non-negotiable warm-up involving ladder drills, cone shuffles, and HIIT routines. We don't just use standard gym exercises, but movements specifically chosen to build the explosive agility needed for smashes and quick court reactions. You’ll see our coaches like Siddhesh and Prem monitoring everything to ensure technique is perfect, even when you are tired.
Why Our Fitness Routine Matters
Badminton isn't just about racket control. It’s about explosive movement, core stability, and endurance. At SP Sports Academy, we treat fitness as the foundation of every match. Whether you are training at our Vasant Vihar Club facility or attending a session at Pawar Public School in Bhandup, the philosophy remains the same: we build you to last.
The Athletic-First Approach
Our training incorporates specific sports science to ensure you are training smart, not just hard. We use:
- HIIT & Agility: Ladder drills and cone shuffles aren't just for warm-ups; they are essential for developing the quick, lateral footwork needed for net play and defensive lunges.
- Plyometrics: Hurdle jumps and explosive sprints help in developing the power required for overhead smashes.
- Core Strength: Simple, effective bodyweight exercises like push-ups and planks keep your posture stable during intense rallies.
Built for All Levels
We train juniors and adults alike. We assess movement loads to make sure the conditioning is appropriate for your age and skill level. We don't believe in one size fits all. If you're a beginner, we focus on coordination and body control. For our advanced players, we ramp up the intensity with simulation drills that mimic the pressure of a real tournament. By the time you finish a session, you will be exhausted, but you will also be a faster, and more resilient player.
SP Sports Academy
At SP Sports Academy, we’ve been building badminton players since 2009 with a simple philosophy: hard work and structured technique. We don’t just teach shots; we build athletes who are ready for the intensity of the court, whether it's at our partner schools or premium clubs across Thane and Mumbai.
