About On-Court Training: Technique & Tactics

You'll notice we spend a lot of time on dead ball and footwork drills, because that is where the real game is built. We don't just rally; we break down every shot—grip, stance, and follow-through—to fix your mechanics properly before you even step into a competitive point.

Building the Foundation

Technique is not just about hitting the ball; it is about how you move to get there. Whether you are a junior or an adult, our training sessions at Shivaji Park Gymkhana focus heavily on repetition and biomechanics. We drill the split stance, footwork patterns, and racket face control until they become second nature. You will learn to handle dead balls, build your forehand, and master the overhead smash with high-repetition drills that build muscle memory.

Moving to Tactics

Once the mechanics are solid, we move to match intelligence. Tennis is a game of decision-making. Our group batches include specific time for match practice, where we teach you point construction, how to transition from defense to offense, and how to maintain intensity under pressure. This is where you learn to think before you hit.

Training Environment

We keep the environment serious. Our evening batches from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM are for those with junoon (passion). You will train on floodlit hard courts, ensuring you get quality time even after work or school hours. Expect rigorous, consistent drilling. If you are looking for a casual weekend hit-about, this is not the place, but if you are ready to compete at the district or state level, you will find the structure and peer group you need here.
