Tennis is as much about the mind as it is about the serve. We teach players at Shivaji Park how to handle match pressure, stay focused during tight games, and maintain the discipline needed for high-level competition.

Our players listening intently during a mental conditioning session. We believe in training the mind just as rigorously as the body to prepare our athletes for high-stakes competition.

We incorporate different practices to build focus and discipline. Here, our young athletes participate in a group yoga session on the court, a great way to improve flexibility, balance, and mental calm.

About The Mental Edge: Mind Conditioning

It is not just about swinging the racquet faster. We run group mental health sessions right on the court to help you handle tournament nerves. Whether you are playing DSO or MSSA, learning how to breathe and reset your focus after a bad shot is the difference between winning and crashing out.

Tennis is 50 percent physical and 50 percent mental. Many players train for hours but crumble the moment they are down a set in a tournament. My team and I focus on closing this gap. During our sessions at Shivaji Park Gymkhana, we integrate mental health coaching to tackle the anxiety that comes with competitive play.

We also bring in yoga to teach kids how to regulate their breathing, which is crucial when you are trying to stay calm during a tie-breaker. You will see us doing these sessions right on the hard courts. This is not classroom theory. It is practical training where we teach you how to shake off a double fault or a missed easy shot. When you are competing in leagues like the SFA or MSSA, the scoreboard pressure is real. Our goal is to ensure you know how to reset, stay in the present, and keep fighting. We keep the groups small enough that we can pay attention to each student’s temperament. Whether you are struggling with focus or need help managing tournament stress, we are here to guide you.

I have spent 35 years on the court, and I have seen too many talented kids lose because their mind gave up before their body did. That is why I push for mental conditioning alongside our tennis drills. We do not just make players; we make sure you have the head for the game.
