Original Paintings and Art Exhibitions by Rabin Bar
A glimpse into my journey through charcoal, acrylics, and international galleries. Whether you are looking for custom art or just curious about my process, welcome to my creative space.
This A3 size charcoal drawing shows the expressive and emotional power of the medium. I focus on creating depth and form through shading and blending, a key skill I teach in my sketching classes.
A close up look at the process of creating a charcoal artwork. I use my fingers to blend the charcoal powder on the paper, creating soft textures and smooth gradients in the portrait.
I am explaining the story and technique behind my paintings to a visitor at the Kalaa Spandan art fair in Pune. My work often incorporates Bengali alphabets and themes from my culture.
I am deeply grateful for the valuable words from the respected Padma Shri artist Biman Bihari Das about my work. He shared his thoughts at my exhibition at Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi.
My painting "LOOK ALIVE US - I" was featured in the Nava Bharat Times newspaper for the 'AVATAR' art exhibition. This piece, made with acrylic on a large canvas, explores the story of human struggle.

About My Art & Exhibitions
When you look closely at my paintings, you will notice something specific—I often weave Bengali alphabets directly into the forms, like eyes or traditional motifs. It is not just about the paint on canvas; it is about how I blend my childhood memories and culture into every stroke. Whether I am using charcoal powder with my fingertips or layering acrylics, I am always trying to capture the story behind the subject, not just the image itself.
My art is a conversation. While I am known for speed painting at events, these gallery-ready pieces are where I take my time to explore deeper themes of spirituality, struggle, and human connection.
Where My Work Travels
I believe art transcends borders, which is why I have taken my exhibitions from local setups in Assam to the international stage in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Bologna, Italy. It is a surreal feeling to discuss the nuances of a canvas with international visitors who speak different languages but connect with the emotions I paint.
The Technique
- Charcoal: My charcoal drawings are about raw emotion. I avoid brushes for textures here; I use my fingertips to blend powder directly onto the paper, allowing for a soft, gradient finish that captures the depth of the subject.
- Acrylics: My acrylic works, like the series featured in the Nava Bharat Times, focus on large-scale storytelling. I often use thick layers and earthy tones to create contrast, ensuring the painting holds its power even from across a room.
Getting Your Own Piece
If you see a style here that resonates with you, I create custom commissions for homes and offices. We can discuss the theme, the medium (charcoal, acrylic, or watercolor), and the scale that fits your space. I do not just want to make a painting; I want to create a piece that starts a conversation in your home.
