From Blueprint to Building: Our Construction Journey
Architecture is not just the final render. Here is the process of building, from foundation to form, revealing the craft that makes a space stand.
Masons at work on the intricate brick jali wall of the Dr. Vishnuvardhan Memorial. This image captures the human skill and craftsmanship involved in realizing the design.
The raw, unfinished interior of the memorial's main hall. The exposed brickwork and concrete beams show the fundamental structure before the final finishes are applied.
The circular concrete form of the sunken gallery under construction. This photo shows the scale of the structure and the beginning of its integration into the earth.
The steel framework of a staircase and mezzanine at the Play Arena project. This highlights my studio's expertise in steel buildings and creating layered, multi-level spaces.
The wooden frame of the rooftop kitchen being assembled under a large tree. This shows the initial phase of a lightweight structure designed to sit gently on an existing building.
The very beginning of construction at the Dr. Vishnuvardhan Memorial site, with foundation work underway. This is where the architectural vision first meets the ground.
A view through a window frame during construction, showing the relationship between the brick wall and the steel staircase.
Detail of wall paneling being installed, showing the combination of different materials and colors.
A duplicate image of the steel staircase, seen through the window framing.
A wider view of the steel structure at Play Arena, showing the interplay of beams and columns.
About From Blueprint to Building: The Construction Journey
Architecture lives in the details you often stop seeing once the paint dries. These images capture the raw material choices, including the brick jali work, steel joints, and concrete pouring, that give our projects their structural integrity and character.
The Narrative of Materials
For us, the construction phase is where the story truly begins. We view materials like wire-cut bricks, steel, and exposed concrete as the vocabulary of our designs. Using a brick jali, for instance, is not just an aesthetic choice; it is a calculated decision to facilitate natural ventilation and light modulation. We work closely with our masons to ensure that every layer of mortar and every steel connection reflects the intent of our original concept.
Engineering for Nature
Our approach is grounded in the reality of the site. Before we break ground, we analyze wind direction, sun paths, and topography. This ensures that the structure works with the environment rather than against it. Whether we are constructing a sunken gallery for a memorial or a rooftop kitchen, the goal is always to create a space that feels like it belongs to the landscape. We focus on passive cooling techniques, which are integrated into the skeletal phase of construction to keep the building efficient and comfortable for years to come.
Site Supervision and Fidelity
Design is only as good as its execution. We prioritize bi-weekly site supervision because we believe architecture requires constant dialogue with the builders on the ground. This ensures that the complex geometries, like curved walls or cantilevered staircases, are translated accurately from the drawing board to the physical space. Our process is transparent and hands-on, ensuring that the final structure is a true reflection of the vision we discussed with our clients at the start.
M9 Design Studio
We see buildings as living canvases, not just static structures. Every beam and brick placement is a deliberate choice to ensure nature and community remain at the center of the experience.
