About Elegant Dining Spaces
When I design a dining set, I focus on the balance between visual impact and daily utility. The 'Damru' table you see here uses a weighted internal structure to support heavy Brazilian Quartzite, ensuring the piece remains rock solid while maintaining a floating, sculptural appearance.
Dining areas are the most social parts of a home. My approach combines sculptural forms with tactile materials to create settings that encourage people to stay longer.
The construction process is rigorous. For example, my 'Svelte' chairs are steam-bent using solid teak wood. This technique allows for beautiful curves without the need for visible joints or screws, keeping the frame clean and strong. I often pair these with high-density foam upholstery that provides genuine comfort for long dinners.
Material selection is where we introduce the Indian soul. I work with Patagonia marble, Onyx, and deep-toned teak. The finishing process is equally important. Whether it is a matte Polyurethane coat or a hand-waxed finish, I ensure the surface can handle the wear of daily family use.
