Statement Dining and Living Room Furniture
I design furniture that anchors a room. Whether it is a floating marble dining table or a sculptural walnut bench, my pieces are built to be the focal point of your home.
This dining room in the Art House project features a custom marble-topped table as its centerpiece. Paired with plush velvet chairs and modern pendant lighting, the entire ensemble is designed to feel layered, bold, and full of character.
My custom "Hover" dining table features a streamlined marble top that appears to float on its concrete and steel base. It brings an understated grandeur to the room, complemented by the vertical curved storage units I designed to blend into the walls.
The "Hover" dining table, made of marble, steel, and concrete, is paired here with a striking teal diptych I painted. The sleek wall detailing and fluted texture add a refined visual break, creating a sophisticated and cohesive dining setting.
This living room is designed for comfort and sophistication, featuring my custom "Forge" TV unit with a bronze metallic finish. The expansive view is framed by custom seating, including the "Pivot" swivel armchairs that soften the room's clean lines.
A close-up of one of the "Orbit" coffee tables, crafted from black concrete. Its soft, curved form provides an organic counterpoint to the linear furniture, adding sculptural interest and a tactile quality to the living space.
The vibrant teal bench adds a cool contrast to the warm wooden ceiling and neutral tones. My custom "Pivot" swivel armchairs and "Orbit" coffee tables work together to create a modern retreat that is both inviting and refined.
The "Forge" TV unit, finished in bronze metallic glass, is a favorite piece of mine. It marries practicality with a strong aesthetic, commanding attention with its understated strength without overpowering the living room's calm atmosphere.
This view highlights the harmony between the furniture pieces. The custom L-shaped sofa, the twin "Orbit" coffee tables, and the "Pivot" armchairs are all arranged to create a conversational and relaxing living area filled with natural light.
The dining room in Project Acropolis is defined by this 8-seater square dining table made from Avocado Green Quartzite. The floating design and rounded edges give this substantial piece a sense of lightness, while the deep green leather chairs complete the look.
In this living room, I paired plush leather sofas with a fluted wood accent wall. The space is grounded by a set of sculptural metal coffee tables and illuminated by a modern linear chandelier, creating a warm and sophisticated environment.
About Statement Dining & Living Pieces
When we build a large stone dining table, the magic is not just in the slab, it is in the engineering underneath. I often use reinforced steel chassis or concrete pedestals that can support over 300kg, which lets us create those floating designs that look impossibly light but are rock solid. When you are picking your piece, think about how it will be used. We can apply industrial-grade sealants that make even porous marble or quartzite resistant to wine and food stains, so you do not have to worry about daily life.
My approach to statement furniture moves away from typical decor and focuses on pieces that act as architectural elements within your home. In my Mumbai studio, I specialize in material-forward design, often working with rare stones like Brazilian Avocatus Quartzite, black concrete, and East Indian Walnut.
Every piece begins with a structural challenge. For my 'Hover' dining tables, the goal is to make a substantial slab of 18-20mm stone appear weightless. This requires hidden support structures, like cast concrete pedestals, which I engineer to provide stability without visual bulk. Similarly, for living room units like my 'Forge' console, I focus on integrating functionality into the aesthetic. I use hollow-shaft swivel mechanisms to hide cables for dual-zone TV viewing and employ handle-less, soft-close systems to keep the silhouette clean.
Materiality is where we create contrast. I love pairing the raw, tactile nature of black concrete or river-washed marble with the warmth of Ash wood or bronze metallic finishes. If you are looking for a centerpiece, I can help you select a stone finish that balances the room's lighting and existing palette. Whether you want a sculptural coffee table that anchors your rug area or a dining piece that becomes the heart of your home, my process involves sharing detailed 3D renders first to ensure the final reality matches your vision perfectly. I build custom pieces that fit your space precisely, meaning I can adjust dimensions and form factors—like curved or cantilevered edges—to suit the specific layout of your apartment.
Tank Design
I am Suraj from Tank Design. I treat every piece of furniture like a problem to solve, whether that means hiding cables in a TV console or balancing a heavy stone slab on a seemingly fragile base. My work is about finding the point where minimal design meets high-performance engineering.
