Commercial & Institutional Architecture Projects
Design that makes a business work harder. I focus on creating workspaces and public venues that balance modern aesthetics with the practical, daily needs of your operations.
The facade of a rehabilitation center in Bangalore, featuring a vibrant, multi-colored louvered screen. This design element provides sun protection while creating a cheerful and dynamic exterior.
A 3D animated walkthrough of my design for the Republic Central School in Mandya. The design features playful, organic window shapes and a large open ground to create a stimulating educational environment.
A 3D render of the office interior for Patton House in Koramangala. The design uses a cool blue and white color scheme with wood accents to create a professional and modern workspace.
The completed office space, showing the geometric color-blocked wall design. This simple but effective feature adds a strong graphic element to the workspace.
The interior of a pub I designed in Nagarbhavi. The space features custom hexagonal lighting fixtures, a coffered ceiling, and bold wall art to create a unique and moody ambiance.
A 3D render of the AMR Dairy factory in Bangalore. The design for this industrial building uses angular, sculptural forms to create a modern and impressive facade for the administrative block.
The outdoor seating area of the Nagarbhavi pub. The design includes a patterned wooden ceiling and simple, robust furniture to create a relaxed, semi-open environment.
About this collection
Commercial design is about solving operational problems through spatial flow. Take the office project I did at Patton House in Koramangala, where I used precise color-blocking and wood-clad columns to define workstations without boxing them in. It is that balance of open space and structured organization that helps a team stay focused without feeling cramped.
Architecture for commercial and institutional spaces requires a different mindset than residential design. You are building for scale, flow, and specific business outcomes. Whether I am drafting an industrial factory or a community school, I prioritize the function before adding the aesthetic layer.
Industrial and Institutional
For industrial projects like the AMR Dairy factory in Bangalore, the focus shifts to robust, sculptural forms that create a strong facade while housing complex loading and administrative requirements. In institutional work, such as the Republic Central School in Mandya, I look for ways to make the environment stimulating. I used playful, organic window shapes to break away from the traditional, rigid school building box, ensuring the architecture feels welcoming rather than imposing.
Office and Hospitality
In office design, like the Patton House project in Koramangala, we deal with the 'solid and void' concept to manage light and privacy. My goal is to prevent the 'cubicle feel' even in compact floor plans. For hospitality spaces, like the pub in Nagarbhavi, the lighting and ceiling details are everything. I used custom hexagonal fixtures and coffered ceilings to curate a specific mood, ensuring the environment supports the vibe of the venue rather than fighting against it.
My approach is always to strip away the clutter. If a structural element isn't adding value to the workflow or the experience, it does not belong in the plan. I handle the entire process from the first sketch to the finished execution, meaning the design you see on the screen is exactly what you get on-site.
Slate Studio
I am Ashok. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all blueprints for businesses. Whether you are setting up a factory, an office, or a pub, I focus on the flow and the 'vibe' so the architecture actually helps your business run better.
