About Behind the Scenes & My Process
A perfect newborn shot is rarely about just snapping a photo, it is about patience and safety. When I do a 'potato sack' pose, it starts with layering the basket for comfort, swaddling securely, and ensuring the baby is warm and settled. That sleeping baby you see in the final image spent twenty minutes being gently wrapped, fed, and comforted before the shutter ever clicked.
Capturing a newborn is a labor of love that requires more than just a camera. As a certified newborn handler, safety is the foundation of every session at my studio in Kithiganur. Whether it is temperature control for an unclothed baby or using professional-grade, soft stretch fabrics for swaddling, every step is calculated to keep your little one calm and comfortable.
Inspiration for my setups often comes from the most random places, like the swirls of a mango softy ice cream which I once translated into a yellow and white criss-cross wrapping pattern. It is these everyday observations that help me move away from overwhelming props and toward a minimalist, monochrome aesthetic where the focus stays entirely on those tiny yawns and wrinkly fingers.
For parents asking about my process, I am an open book. I love showing you how we stack layers in a heart bowl or how I use macro-editing to naturally correct skin texture. My goal is for you to look back at these photos years later and get that feeling—Indha music engeyo keta madhiri iruka? (Does this feel familiar?)—reconnecting you to the exact emotion of those first days.
Beyond client sessions, I am deeply invested in mentoring. Through my hands-on Newborn Wrapping Workshops, I train other photographers on safe swaddling and posing techniques.
