Setting up for newborn shoots is a process of love. I always prepare everything a day in advance because I can't handle newborns with anxiety. A calm photographer means a calm baby.
A typical session at our studio is an easy, breezy, slow start. I am not a photographer who just captures poses; I am a photographer who captures love.
About A Peek Behind the Lens
Newborn sessions are my therapy, but they are also a massive logistical effort. I prepare every single setup—from the beanbag poses to the vintage crates—the day before you arrive. This means when you walk into my Jayanagar studio, the space is already quiet, comfortable, and ready. We spend zero time setting up or stressing while you are here, allowing us to focus entirely on your baby's comfort without the noise of last-minute staging.
My process is built entirely around avoiding rush. When you work with newborns, you learn quickly that anxiety is contagious. If I am hurried, the baby senses it, and the session becomes difficult. By doing the heavy lifting, cleaning, and prop-staging 24 hours in advance, I ensure that my studio is a calm, temperature-controlled environment the moment you step through the door.
The Anatomy of a Calm Session
- The Soothing Phase: Before we ever touch a camera, I take time to settle the baby. Whether it is feeding, swaddling, or simply rocking them, I ensure they are in a deep, peaceful sleep before we attempt any posing.
- Safety First: Every pose you see in my gallery is achieved with safety as the primary factor. Beanbag posing and prop work are done with hands-on support. I never prioritize a 'look' over the physical security of your little one.
- Studio vs. Home: I maintain a fully equipped, bright studio in South Bangalore, which is where I prefer to shoot because I have complete control over lighting and noise. However, I understand that sometimes travel is difficult for a new mother. I do travel across Bengaluru for home sessions, bringing my portable studio lighting and fabric backdrop setup to your space to recreate the same aesthetic.
Why I Focus on Minimalism
I avoid overly complex, distracting themes. My focus is on your baby's features—the tiny fingers, the soft skin, and those first expressions. My setups are designed to act as a frame for your child, not a distraction from them. This ensures the final images are timeless, and more importantly, the experience remains gentle for your family.
