My Bharatanatyam Performances & Event Highlights
A glimpse into my recent dance productions, stage performances, and workshops. I invite you to explore the stories and traditions I share through my work.
A video announcement for my performance in "Vanita," a production celebrating women, in Chennai. Speaking directly to the audience is a great way to connect and invite them to a show.
A teaser video for my production, "The Wheel of Choices." This promotional material is designed to build excitement and give a glimpse into the theme of the dance drama.
The official "Save the Date" poster for "The Wheel of Choices." The dramatic blue-lit photo and clean typography create a professional and enticing announcement for the event.
The poster for my first workshop with Spicmacay, an organization dedicated to promoting Indian classical arts among youth. This was a dream come true and a wonderful opportunity to teach.
The event poster for my performance of "Mathe: A Bharatanatyam Ode to Motherhood" at the Bangalore International Centre. This highlights my work as both a choreographer and a performer.
About In the Spotlight: Features & Announcements
Every piece I curate, from the narrative structure of 'The Wheel of Choices' to the emotive Abhinaya in my solo recitals, is designed to bridge the gap between ancient tradition and a contemporary audience. When you book a performance, you are collaborating with a storyteller who works alongside your technical team to ensure lighting, sound, and stage presence translate the emotional core of the performance to your guests.
Performance & Production Philosophy
My approach to stage performance goes beyond the mechanics of dance. Whether it is a thematic production like 'Mathe'—an ode to motherhood—or a collaborative event, I believe that a performance is a conversation. I prioritize the narrative arc, ensuring that even audience members new to Bharatanatyam can connect with the themes of Dharma and Karmic destiny.
Types of Engagements
- Thematic Dance Dramas: I specialize in conceptual productions that blend dance, poetry, and intricate storytelling. These are suited for auditoriums and cultural festivals that value deep artistic engagement.
- Solo Recitals: I perform traditional repertoires that highlight Talam (rhythm) and Abhinaya (expression), perfect for intimate venues, private gatherings, or prestigious cultural event openings.
- Workshops & Demos: My association with platforms like SPICMACAY allows me to share the foundation of Indian classical dance with students and youth. I am available for masterclasses that introduce participants to the discipline of the art form.
The Collaborative Process
Performance is a team effort. I have worked with diverse venues, from the Bangalore International Centre to the Stein Auditorium in Delhi. I am accustomed to working with local organizers and technical teams to manage staging requirements, music cues, and lighting plans. If you are planning an event, I welcome a conversation about how we can tailor the repertoire to suit your theme and venue constraints.
Shreyasi Gopinath
I am at my happiest when I am on stage or teaching, sharing the stories I have spent years learning from my gurus. Whether it is a solo recital or a group production, my focus is always on making the audience feel part of the narrative.
