Explore a collection where movement meets narrative. These images showcase how classical dance disciplines, like Abhinaya, transform conceptual photoshoots and stage performances into vivid stories.

A moment from my dance drama "The Wheel of Choices" at the Khajuraho Dance Festival. Here, I am portraying a character with an intense, grounded pose that communicates strength and determination.

A close-up shot from the Khajuraho performance, focusing on facial expression. My theatrical training allows me to convey complex emotions like sorrow and resolve, which is essential for narrative-driven modeling.

A scene from "The Wheel of Choices," where I am in character as Karna. The costuming and interactive pose with another dancer highlight my experience in ensemble productions and character portrayal.

Another powerful moment from the dance drama, showing a scene of reverence and dialogue. This demonstrates my ability to interact with other performers to create a compelling narrative.

Portraying a dynamic interaction between characters on stage. My ability to create strong shapes and convey relationships through posture is a key part of my theatrical modeling work.

A throwback to my college days performing Kathakali. Portraying the male character of Arjuna taught me how to embody different energies and use elaborate costumes and makeup to transform.

From a performance exploring the theme of motherhood. This pose, with hands in a gesture of prayer, conveys the devotion and gentle love of a mother putting her child to sleep.

A continuation of the motherhood theme, showing a moment of deep affection and care. The soft expression and cradling gesture are examples of how I use abhinaya (expression) to tell a story.

A joyful smile as the mother watches her child sleep peacefully. This shot captures a feeling of pure happiness and contentment, showcasing my range in portraying positive emotions.

A fun behind the scenes video where my students and I portray the Navarasas, or nine emotions. This shows my ability to quickly switch between different expressions, from love (Shringara) to peace (Shanta).

About The Art of Storytelling: Conceptual & Theatrical

When I step in front of the camera for a conceptual shoot, I am not merely posing. I am channeling the Navarasa, the nine human emotions, to ensure that every photograph communicates a specific narrative. My training at Kalakshetra allows me to hold complex postures and maintain distinct facial expressions for extended periods, helping you capture the exact emotion you need without constant readjustment.

Whether we are recreating poetry on screen or staging a dance drama like my production 'The Wheel of Choices,' the goal remains the same: visual storytelling. My background in Bharatanatyam has taught me that the body is an instrument of narrative. This experience directly benefits commercial and editorial projects.

Technical Precision for Creative Teams

For photographers and stylists, this means I understand how to position the body to accentuate fabric fall, jewelry, and silhouette. I bring a performer's endurance to demanding shoots, maintaining sharp, disciplined posture even under heavy couture or complex lighting setups.

Collaborative Creative Process

I specialize in collaborative work. If your project involves a specific mood board or theme—from mythological recreations to high-fashion editorial—I work with your creative team to interpret the vision. My process involves analyzing the scene and bringing the right energy to the frame, whether that is the fierce power of a warrior or the delicate grace of a mother. I am open to experimenting with movement and expression to ensure we get the perfect shot that aligns with your campaign goals.

I am Shreyasi. I believe that dance is a conversation, not just a series of steps. I love collaborating with photographers, stylists, and directors who want more than just a subject—they want a storyteller who understands how to bring a vision to life on camera.
