Published Magazine Editorials and Cover Shoots
These are the shots that made the cut. From high-fashion covers to raw editorial spreads, this is where my vision for lighting meets the page.
My cover feature for Hunter Magazine, titled 'Borrowed Authority'. This shot was about creating a powerful, silent stare that holds the viewer's attention.
The cover for Roidx Magazine, capturing the 'unstoppable pace of modern femininity'. The intense gaze and bold blue eyeliner are highlighted by a focused lighting setup against a vibrant yellow backdrop.
A beauty editorial close-up for Vigour Magazine. The focus here was on the bold, red-toned makeup, using light to accentuate the model's striking green eyes and flawless skin.
A 'Neo-Baroque Noir' editorial published in MOB Journal. This image plays with colored gels and a slow shutter drag to create a modern, edgy portrait with a classic feel.
From the 'Elegy in Motion' series in Darkly Art Magazine. This black and white shot captures the model as a living sculpture, with light and shadow defining her form.
A provocative shot from the 'Divine Dissonance' series in Darkly Art Magazine. I built this small set in my studio, using a mix of strobes and constant LEDs to create a gritty, cinematic mood.
Titled 'Whispers of Rebellion' for PONY Magazine. This shot showcases a soft, dreamy aesthetic with a focus on intricate hair styling and a gentle, emotive pose.
A surreal, two-faced portrait published in Malvie Magazine. This was achieved in-camera with creative posing and lighting to explore themes of duality and identity.
An editorial shot on the streets of Tokyo for Bleach Film Magazine. We used the urban environment and its graphic markings as a backdrop for a high-fashion pose.
A classic, retro-inspired fashion shot published in Figgi Magazine. The pose, styling, and soft lighting evoke a timeless elegance.
About Published Work: Magazine Editorials & Covers
When I shoot for editorials, I don't just snap photos; I build the scene. Whether it's using colored gels in a dark room or finding graphic shadows on a Tokyo street, I control the light to tell a specific story. If you’re planning a shoot, understand that we’ll need to lock in the lighting concept, wardrobe, and mood before the first strobe fires.
Crafting the Cover
A magazine cover needs to stop the scroll. It’s about the gaze, the texture, and the immediate visual impact. My process starts with the light—usually a precise commercial setup or dramatic, sculpted light that highlights skin texture rather than masking it. I’ve been published in Hunter, Vigour, MOB Journal, and PONY, and the common thread in all these shoots is intense collaboration.
Why My Editorial Process Works:
- Technical Precision: From Neo-Baroque Noir concepts to minimalist fashion, I use gear like the Sony A1 with specific glass to ensure every detail pops, even for print.
- Styling & MUA Coordination: I work closely with stylists and hair/makeup artists to ensure the hair, makeup, and garments serve the story. We aren't just taking pictures; we are making visual statements.
- Directed Movement: I don’t rely on luck. I direct my subjects—whether it’s a specific chin angle for Borrowed Authority or the intense emotion needed for a Darkly Art Magazine feature.
- Creative Freedom: If you need a campaign that defies the standard "studio portrait" look, we can push for high-fashion color grading and advanced light sculpting using optical snoots and prisms.
