From Concept to Creation: Our Architectural Process

Architecture is rarely a linear path from paper to completion. My practice is built on the belief that a design must adapt as it meets the ground. Whether we are transforming a dilapidated facility into a boutique resort in the Nilgiris or constructing a private residence in Coimbatore, the process remains the same: constant iteration.

The Shift from Render to Reality

Digital 3D models provide the roadmap, but they cannot capture the nuance of light falling on a specific wall or the exact texture of site-sourced mud. In projects like 'Udyana', we rely on these renders not as rigid templates, but as guides. During construction, we make decisions based on the material's behavior—how the brick holds mortar, how the steel for a helical staircase sets, or how the skylight dictates the movement of shadow throughout the day.

Why Process Matters

Construction is an inherently unpredictable activity. By staying involved in periodic site supervision, we address technical challenges in real-time. This includes:

• Structural Detailing: Coordinating complex elements like cantilevered slabs or exposed concrete without compromising the aesthetic.
• MEP Integration: Hiding the necessary machinery of a building—electrical lines, plumbing—within exposed walls so the structure remains clean.
• Site-Specific Adjustments: Adapting foundations to contour mapping or adjusting fenestration based on the actual wind patterns observed on-site.

My approach is to maintain a dialogue with the contractors and the landscape throughout the build. It ensures that the final result isn't just a static object on the land, but a space that breathes and functions exactly as intended.
