What is yoga? I break it down into the ABCD's: Asana for the body, Breath control for emotions, Chanting to find your voice, and Dhyana (meditation) for stillness. This is a simple framework to understand the complete practice.

"The primary aim of yoga is to restore the mind to simplicity and peace." This quote from B.K.S. Iyengar perfectly states our goal. Yoga is not just about the body; it is a practice to free the mind from confusion and distress.

I founded SAY Yoga to share the mental and emotional transformation that this practice offers. It provides clarity, balance, and resilience that extend far beyond the mat, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned yogi.

The ABCD of Our Practice

Yoga is an ancient technology, and we break it down into four simple pillars for our students:

  • A is for Asana: These are the physical postures, but they are just the start. They help you build balance in both movement and stillness.
  • B is for Breath Control: Pranayama is the bridge between your body and your mind. When you feel anxious or reactive, your breath is the tool that brings you back to center.
  • C is for Chanting: This helps you find your voice. Many of us suppress our thoughts and emotions, but chanting allows you to let go of that weight.
  • D is for Dhyana: This is the most challenging part of the practice because it requires you to do nothing at all. Stillness is where true transformation happens.
