At Sāttvatī, I believe in the power of shared knowledge. Our visiting faculty members bring their own unique styles and deep training to our students, enriching the learning experience beyond just my own choreography.

Our visiting faculty member, Kislaya Anand, delivering a powerful solo performance at Medai. His expressive storytelling and strong stage presence were an inspiration to all our students.

A captivating performance by Kislaya Anand during our studio opening. His portrayal of Draupadi was filled with grace and emotion, beautifully setting the tone for the event.

About Our Talented Faculty

Inviting guest artists like Kislaya Anand is not just about showcasing impressive performances. It gives you a chance to see how different Kathakars interpret the same bols (rhythms) and abhinaya (expressions). It pushes our students to step outside their comfort zone and find their own voice in the dance.

Learning Kathak is a lifelong process, and exposing students to diverse perspectives is a crucial part of that growth. While I handle the regular curriculum at our Banashankari, Jayanagar, and Koramangala studios, I firmly believe that bringing in visiting faculty adds a vital layer of depth to our training.

Why Guest Faculty Matters

When you watch a senior dancer like Kislaya Anand perform, you aren't just seeing steps. You are witnessing years of discipline, the nuanced use of stage space, and the emotional intelligence required for storytelling. For our students, these workshops serve as a masterclass in observation. It bridges the gap between what is taught in the classroom and how it is applied on a professional stage.

What to Expect in These Sessions

Our guest sessions often focus on:

  • Diverse Choreographic Styles: Seeing how different gurus approach the same classical compositions.
  • Technical Nuance: Learning new ways to execute tatkar (footwork) or spins.
  • Artistic Expression: Exploring abhinaya through the lens of a different artist, which often helps students unlock their own creative potential.

Whether it is a weekend workshop or a special masterclass series, these sessions are designed to be intensive and inspiring. We want you to walk away not just with a new piece of choreography, but with a deeper understanding of the vastness of the Kathak tradition. Keep an eye on our event updates for upcoming guest faculty sessions across our Bangalore locations.
