Kathak Solo and Group Choreographies
Kathak is my storytelling language. This collection features the solo performances and group choreographies that I have had the joy of passing down to my students.
A solo performance of a Saraswati Vandana, filmed outdoors in nature. This piece, set to original music, is an introduction to the foundations of Kathak that I often teach in beginner workshops.
This Tarana is very special to me, as it was passed down from my gurus. Performing it with my own students is a beautiful continuation of the guru-shishya parampara, connecting generations through dance.
A glimpse from the opening day of my dance school, Sāttvatī. This short performance captures the energy and joy of that milestone, showcasing the classic Kathak chakkar or spin.
This performance features a Panch Jati Chakradhar in Teentaal, a complex rhythmic composition. It showcases the technical precision and stamina required in advanced Kathak practice.
About My Artistry: Solo & Group Choreographies
Every piece I perform or teach carries the weight of my gurus' teachings. When you watch these choreographies, you see a direct lineage, from my gurus to me, and now to my students. I do not just teach steps, I share the bols and the abhinaya that make this artform breathe. Whether it is a Panch Jati Chakradhar or a traditional Tarana, the goal is always the same: to find the rhythm within and express it with absolute sincerity.
Performing is only half the battle; the real work happens in the studio. When I choreograph a Tarana or a Panch Jati Chakradhar in Teentaal, I am teaching my students to understand Laya, or rhythm math, rather than just memorizing movements. These performances require rigorous discipline, focusing on footwork, known as Tatkar, and complex spins, called Chakkars. In our classes across Banashankari, Jayanagar, and Koramangala, we replicate this professional intensity. We practice with live tabla accompaniment whenever possible, so students learn to listen to the music, not just anticipate the beat. This training helps students build the stamina needed for stage performances. If you are new to this, do not worry about the technical terms. We begin with posture and basic Hastas, or hand gestures, gradually introducing the bol recitation that defines Kathak. My goal is to ensure that when a student steps onto the stage, they are not just executing a routine but telling a story they truly understand. If you have been looking for an environment that balances traditional etiquette with the freedom to learn and express, you will find it here.

I started dancing at 12 and have never looked back. To me, teaching Kathak is about sharing the magic my gurus passed down to me. My students are my family, and seeing them perform gives me the same joy I felt when I first stepped onto a stage.
