Helping students master the foundations of still life and object drawing for Elementary and Intermediate Grade Art Exams.

Ishan, a 9th grader, proudly displays his still life painting of a flask, pot, and vegetables. This watercolour piece is excellent practice for the object drawing section of the art exams.

A beautiful still life piece by 9th grader Anaya, focusing on light and shadow. This mixed-media work with bottles and apples shows advanced technique.

This realistic watercolour painting of grapes was done by Anaya in 9th grade. We practice painting different textures to build a versatile skill set for exams.

Tanisha, a 7th grader, with her acrylic on canvas still life painting. Working with different mediums like acrylics helps students understand colour and form more deeply.

Kanak, a 6th-grade student, shows her pencil sketch of various objects. Mastering pencil sketching is crucial for understanding shading and form before adding colour.

Saee, a 7th grader, with her on-the-spot still life watercolour. This type of quick painting is excellent practice for timed school competitions and exams.

A still life study using poster colours on paper by Tanisha. This piece focuses on capturing the metallic and ceramic textures of the objects.

Ishan from 6th grade with his creative line art watercolour. This exercise combines drawing skills with watercolour techniques, focusing on clean lines and simple colour washes.

Even my youngest students, like Neev from 2nd grade, practice object drawing. This piece shows his interpretation of a still life setup using oil pastels.

About Exam Skills: Still Life & Object Drawing

In our exam batches, we do not just paint; we simulate the pressure of the actual Maharashtra State Board exams. Because these exams are strictly timed, I focus heavily on helping students establish the right ergonomics—from how they sit at the drawing board to how they manage their time between sketching and colour washes. If you are joining us, be prepared to treat your session as a mock test, not just a casual hobby class.

Building Exam Readiness

Success in the Elementary and Intermediate Grade Art Exams requires more than just creativity; it demands technique and discipline. My coaching centers on the four core pillars mandated by the State Board: Object Drawing, Memory Drawing, 2D Design, and Plane Geometry.

We work with a variety of mediums—watercolours, poster colours, and pencil—to ensure students are comfortable regardless of the specific task assigned on exam day. In our Marol studio, we maintain a pin-drop silence environment to foster concentration, similar to what students will experience in the examination hall.

How We Train

  • Technical Critique: I provide rotational feedback 2-3 times per class. This means I personally correct lines and values directly on the student’s paper so they understand their mistakes immediately.
  • Timed Practice: We use previous years' question papers to conduct mock tests. Learning to complete a piece within the 90-minute window is the most important skill I teach.
  • Flexible Learning: While in-person classes at Marol allow for the best hands-on guidance, my online batches on Google Meet offer the same structured curriculum for students who prefer learning from home.

Whether your child is working on a simple pencil sketch of a pot or a complex watercolour still life, the goal is to build muscle memory and confidence. We emphasize the basics of shading, light, and texture so that when the final exam arrives, the process feels like second nature.
