About Skills for Grade Exams

It is not just about getting the certificate; it is about training your hand to see shapes, light, and composition correctly. We spend specific time on still life setups and memory drawing narratives, making sure students understand the principles behind every shade and proportion so that the exam becomes a natural extension of what we practice daily in the studio.

Building Foundation and Technique

Preparing for Elementary and Intermediate Grade Exams is a commitment that goes beyond sketching. It is a systematic process of refining your artistic vocabulary. At ArtInMe, we approach this curriculum by focusing on the three pillars of the grade exam syllabus: Still Life, Memory Drawing, and Design.

Our Focus Areas

  • Still Life: We focus on rendering. Whether it is a steel jug, a clay pot, or fruit, the goal is to capture the weight, the material texture, and the way light hits the surface. We teach students to observe and then translate those observations accurately.
  • Memory Drawing: This is where we see the most growth. We work on capturing scenes from daily life—people interacting, movement in a crowded train station, or children playing. We train the mind to recall proportions and human figures, which is vital for these exams.
  • Design & Composition: We teach students to organize a page. Balance, rhythm, and color theory are essential here. We move from basic shapes to complex arrangements, ensuring every element has a purpose.

The Studio Environment

Our Mulund studio provides a distraction-free space where students can focus on these repetitive but necessary technical skills. We keep the batches small to ensure I can provide individual feedback on a student's shading or perspective issues. It is hard work, but we keep the atmosphere light and positive. By the time the exam arrives, the technical requirements feel like second nature, leaving students free to focus on their creativity.
