For a custom portrait, I work from a high-contrast photograph to ensure the best detail. The process takes about 7 to 14 days from the approval of the initial layout to the final application of industrial fixatives that keep the sand grains stable. The result is a monochromatic, sepia-toned finish that adds physical depth to every expression on a 24 by 30 inch board.

Each portrait is more than just a picture. I use graded natural sand in sepia and brown tones to build a monochromatic piece that feels tactile and alive. Because I believe in sustainable art, the grains are permanently fixed onto a rigid board using professional-grade industrial binders, ensuring they do not shed or shift over time.
