Traditional Techniques on Silk

We work with three main styles in this collection:

• Chikankari & Zardozi: By adding subtle floral or geometric hand-work to the body or pallu, we soften the traditional heavy zari look, making the saree feel lighter and more suitable for pre-wedding functions or intimate ceremonies.
• Kasuthi Embroidery: This intricate, traditional craft from Karnataka uses needle-work to create motifs like elephants, chariots, and lotuses. Applied to a Kanjivaram, it creates a deeply personal connection to regional heritage that is rarely found in mass-produced sarees.
• Kalamkari Artistry: We use hand-painted Kalamkari on Tussar and silk to add an artistic, illustrative layer to the fabric, resulting in a saree that looks like a draped canvas.

What to Expect

When choosing an artisan piece, consider the weight and drape. Hand-embroidered sarees, especially those with heavy Zardozi or metallic thread work, are naturally heavier than plain silks. While this gives them a royal, structured fall, it is something to consider for all-day events.

Each of these sarees requires specific care. Unlike standard silks, you should avoid heavy folding on the embroidered areas to keep the threads intact. We always recommend storing these in breathable fabric bags rather than plastic to ensure the metallic zari and delicate thread-work age well, allowing you to pass these pieces down as family heirlooms.
