Project Spotlight: The White House
We transformed this compact 950 sqft apartment into a bright, cohesive sanctuary. By using clever layout planning and custom wood paneling, we made a narrow floor plate feel open and airy.
The foyer sets the tone for this minimalist home. A floating wood console against a white fluted wall and a dark accent wall for the TV unit create a striking contrast and a clear path into the living area.
A view from the entrance, showing how the different elements come together. The round mirror softens the lines, and the reflection offers a peek into the dining area, creating a sense of interconnected space.
Another perspective of the entryway, highlighting the clean lines and the interplay between the white fluted panels, dark grey wall, and warm wood furniture.
The living room is designed for comfort and style. A dark feature wall anchors the space, while the light-colored sofa, sheer curtains, and the owner's adorable dog add warmth and personality.
The living area uses a mix of textures, from the soft rug to the smooth marble coffee tables and the patterned vase, to create a space that is visually interesting yet calming.
A full view of the living room, showing how we used a long, continuous seating bench under the window to maximize seating and storage in the narrow floor plan.
The floating media console keeps the floor clear, enhancing the sense of space. The dark wall behind the TV helps it blend in when not in use, reducing visual clutter.
This shot captures the serene atmosphere of the living room, with soft light filtering through the sheer curtains and highlighting the carefully chosen decor.
The bay window seat is a perfect spot for relaxing with a book or enjoying a cup of coffee. It's a simple feature that adds immense value and a personal touch to the living space.
A quick video tour showing some of our favorite moments from this home, from the sunlit living room to the cozy bedroom nook.
About Project Spotlight: The White House
Notice the doors blending into the wall panels? In a 950 sqft home, visual clutter is the enemy. By integrating the doors into our custom white wall paneling, we kept the geometry clean and created a seamless flow that makes the entire apartment feel significantly larger.
When we first looked at this 950 sqft apartment, the main challenge was the long, narrow floor plate. To keep the living area from feeling cramped, we focused on two things: light and continuity.
We used beige Turkish Dyna marble flooring throughout the house to bounce natural light into the deeper corners of the floor plan. Instead of traditional door frames which break up the visual lines, we used hidden doors flush with the white wall paneling. This approach keeps the eye moving without interruption, which is essential for small apartment interiors.
Functionality was built into the architecture. The dining area, for instance, uses bench seating against the wall. This saves precious inches compared to standard chairs and keeps the walkway clear. We added a long, oval mirror above this bench to reflect the living room, adding a sense of depth.
For storage, we kept to a neutral palette and designed full-height cabinets that sit flush with the walls. You won't find bulky standing units here; every piece of storage is designed to look like part of the wall itself. This project shows that you do not need a massive footprint to have a home that feels open, calm, and organized.
