We turned a massive 7500 sq ft shell in Hebbal into a lively restobar, balancing raw industrial textures with warm, rustic accents.

An overhead view of the main dining hall at Pincode 24. This perspective shows the flexible seating arrangement with a mix of low and high tables, the expansive concrete-texture tile flooring, and the impressive scale of the double-height space leading to the bar.

The main dining area looking towards the bar. The dark steel grid ceiling conceals services while providing a structure for the industrial pendant lights. The combination of custom wooden chairs and tables adds a rustic touch that balances the industrial design.

A frontal view of the main bar, the heart of the restobar. The design features a live edge wood countertop, green subway tiles, and a dramatic, back-lit bottle display. The expanded metal mesh ceiling above the bar adds another layer of industrial texture.

A closer look at the bar and dining tables. We chose materials carefully to create a tactile experience, from the smooth wood of the furniture to the textured stone-clad columns and the glossy tile of the bar fascia.

The high-top seating along the side of the space offers a different vantage point. From here, guests can appreciate the soaring ceiling, the natural light from the clerestory windows, and the custom terracotta block wall that adds a warm, earthy element to the bar design.

A view from the side of the dining area, highlighting the striking terracotta partition wall. This custom feature serves as a beautiful focal point and practically screens off the staircase and more private zones from the main hall.

The space captured with patrons, showing how the design facilitates a lively and social atmosphere. The flexible seating and open layout create a welcoming environment, proving that good design is about how a space feels and functions.

About this collection

Designing a 7500 sq ft restobar requires managing the flow between high-energy zones and quiet dining areas. We used a terracotta partition wall to physically separate the staircase and private sections, providing a sense of seclusion without sacrificing the open, airy feeling of the double-volume space.

The industrial-chic aesthetic is often misunderstood as cold, but our approach with this project was to ground the raw elements with warmth. The dark steel grid ceiling serves a dual purpose, concealing service lines while providing a structure for versatile lighting, allowing the space to transition from a bright, brunch-friendly spot to a moody sundowner venue.

Key to this transformation was our choice of materials. The live-edge wood bar counter brings an organic touch that contrasts with the hard, cold surface of the concrete-texture floor tiles. We introduced the green subway tiles on the bar fascia to add depth and a hint of colour, breaking up the grey and metal palette.

We didn't rely on pre-made solutions. Every piece, from the bar counters to the suspended bottle racks, was fabricated to fit the specific constraints of this large volume. The clerestory windows were intentionally kept unobstructed to maximize natural light, which hits the terracotta walls at different angles throughout the day, constantly changing the mood of the room.

For anyone looking to convert a large bare shell, the lesson here is simple: keep the layout flexible. By using modular high and low tables, the restaurant can accommodate anything from large corporate groups to intimate evening dates without needing structural changes.
