About Electronics & Appliance Repair
Our sessions are collaborative, not a drop-off service, which means you will be doing the work alongside our mentors. While we provide a shared library of soldering irons, multimeters, and screwdrivers, do keep in mind that you need to source and bring any specific spare parts—like new capacitors, zippers, or specialized batteries—ahead of the workshop. We are here to guide the diagnosis and technique, empowering you to finish the fix yourself.
What to Expect at Our Repair Cafes
When you join one of our workshops, you are stepping into a community of people who believe that broken doesn't mean finished. Whether you are dealing with a faulty toaster, a flickering desk lamp, or a laptop that has seen better days, our goal is to help you understand why it stopped working and how to revive it.
How It Works
We operate as a volunteer-led initiative. You bring your item, and we provide the workspace and the expertise. Our 'floating' mentors help you diagnose the issue. You might use our 25W or 60W soldering stations for circuit boards, precision screwdrivers for small housings, or multimeters to test for continuity. It is a space where you can try, make mistakes, and learn without judgment. If it gets fixed, that is a victory. If it doesn't, you have still learned how it functions, which is a success in our book.
Preparing for Your Workshop
- Diagnosis: Be prepared to open up your device. We encourage participants to be hands-on with tools under supervision.
- Spare Parts: Because we are a volunteer collective, we do not stock spare parts. Please identify what your device might need—a new cord, a specific screw, or a replacement battery—and bring it with you.
- Learning Culture: These workshops are perfect for anyone curious about how their daily gadgets function, from teenagers interested in tech to grandparents wanting to fix household appliances.
We host regular pop-up events in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Check our latest schedule, register for a slot, and come prepared to learn. It is messy, it is fun, and it is a powerful way to reduce waste while gaining a life skill.
