About Our Community in Action
When you visit a workshop, you aren't handing off your item to a repairman. You sit at a communal table with our volunteer mentors to diagnose and fix it yourself. Whether you are learning to solder a circuit board or darning a favorite shirt, you do the work so you gain the skill for the next time something breaks.
At our Repair Cafes, the focus is as much on the people as it is on the objects. We host these sessions in neighborhood spaces across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, creating a low-pressure environment where it is perfectly okay to fail. Sometimes an item stays broken, and that is fine—we believe the real success is the attempt and the knowledge you take home.
Our workshops are intergenerational spaces. You will see kids alongside grandparents, all working together to tinker with everyday items like toasters, headphones, bicycles, and toys. We provide the tools, from basic soldering stations to sewing kits, while our mentors provide the guidance. You bring the items that have seen better days, and together we try to give them a second life.
These sessions are about more than just repair. They are about building a culture of care where we value what we already own. If you have been hesitant to open up a gadget or pick up a needle, this is your place to start. We strip away the intimidating layer of technical expertise, showing that anyone can learn to maintain their own belongings.
