Community Repair Workshops and DIY Sessions
Join our community of tinkerers and learners. Bring your broken items, pick up new skills, and experience the joy of fixing things together.
This is what our workshops are all about. Here, a mentor guides a father and his two curious children through a bicycle repair. We believe in hands-on, intergenerational learning where everyone can participate and discover the joy of fixing.
Don't be intimidated by complex electronics. At our sessions, we create a supportive space where you can learn to diagnose and repair gadgets like laptops. A volunteer mentor is guiding a participant through the process, step by step.
Our textile mending sessions are relaxed and collaborative. Here, participants are gathered on the floor, sharing tips and learning hand-sewing techniques together. It’s a perfect example of our grassroots, community-first approach to repair.
Curiosity knows no age. We love seeing moments like this, where a young girl watches with fascination as a mentor works on a kitchen appliance. Our workshops are safe, welcoming spaces for kids to learn practical skills.
It's not just about electronics and bikes. We also host creative workshops like bookbinding, where our mentor Ashok Urs teaches kids how to give old pages a new life. It’s a wonderful way to learn a new craft and appreciate the value of things.
Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. This is what active learning looks like. A participant and mentor work together on a bicycle wheel, showing the focus and teamwork that happens at our repair cafes.
The best feeling in the world: Fixed! A happy participant proudly shows off her repaired oven. Our goal is to empower you with the skills and confidence to fix your own belongings, saving money and reducing waste.
This is our community. A group photo from our Hyderabad workshop, celebrating a day of successful repairs. We are a diverse collective of volunteers, mentors, and participants of all ages, united by a passion for fixing.
About Featured
When you join our sessions, you are not handing over an item for us to fix. Instead, you sit down with our volunteer mentors who help you diagnose the issue and guide your hands through the repair. Whether it is a loose wire in your toaster or a torn seam in your backpack, you are the one doing the work, which means you leave with both a functioning item and the confidence to fix it again next time.
We run these community sessions across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. We operate on the principle of shared knowledge and collective care. Our mentors offer guidance, but you bring the item and the effort. Some days, we fix things perfectly and celebrate the win. Other days, we struggle, learn why something failed, and gain a deeper understanding of how our appliances, toys, and clothes are constructed. That process of discovery is the real goal.
We handle a wide range of repairs. If you have mechanical troubles, our bicycle maintenance stations cover everything from tire servicing to chain issues. For electronics, we have stations for soldering, troubleshooting, and diagnosing faults in everyday items like kitchen mixers or lamps. If it is textile-related, our mending sessions focus on teaching hand-sewing, patching, and darning techniques.
We keep our workshops open to everyone. You do not need to be an expert to attend. In fact, most of our participants start as complete beginners. The only requirement is curiosity and a willingness to try. If you are worried about whether your item can be fixed, bring it anyway. Even if an item turns out to be beyond repair, you will leave knowing more about its internal workings and having spent time connecting with others in your neighbourhood.
