About Online Repair Courses for Kids & Teens
We’re all about fixing, not throwing. I want kids to catch the repair bug and see how much fun it is to solve things with their own hands. Our online space is for ages 8 to 14, and honestly, it’s not some boring lecture - we jump in, get our hands messy, and learn by actually doing.
What Kids Learn Here
- Home electrics: basics of circuits, fixing lamps and irons, even a bit of soldering.
- Gadgets: troubleshooting laptops, mobiles, and whatnot - simple stuff you can actually use.
- Bicycles: cleaning, greasing, brake and tire fixes. No fancy gear needed.
- Clothes: hand sewing, patching, and upcycling (making old tees cool again).
How It Works
- Live sessions on Google Meet, with real repair champs guiding everyone step by step.
- It’s super interactive - everyone’s in it together, making mistakes, nailing repairs, and sometimes just laughing when things don’t go as planned. That’s the point.
Choose Your Tinkering Style
- Tinker Kinder: multi-session DIY repair workshops for children, perfect if your kid wants to dig deep and keep tinkering.
- Tinker Time: single interactive online tinkering session, just a couple of hours focused on one skill.
If your kid is curious, has a device and decent internet, and wants to try something new, they’ll fit right in. If a repair flops, no worries - “repair maadi!” (give it a try!) is what we say.

My Story
We’re Repair Cafe Collective – not just one person, but a whole mix of teachers, techies, artists, parents, and more. We got tired of seeing stuff tossed out, so we started saying 'Don't throw, FIX.' Now, we run Repair Cafes across India – Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, shouting 'Repair Maadi!' (Do the repair!). The best part? Watching folks light up when they fix their old toy or grandma’s skirt. It’s messy, fun, and all about connecting. Everyone’s welcome.
My Work
DIY Repair Workshops & Tinker Kinder - We host DIY repair workshops and Tinker Kinder sessions for kids, teaching hands-on fixing skills.
Community Repair Cafes - Bring your broken stuff – toys, clothes, gadgets – and our mentors help you repair it yourself.
Learning & Experimenting - No judgment here. We learn together, try, fail, and sometimes things stay broken. That’s okay too.
Skills You’ll Pick Up - From bicycle maintenance basics to laptop troubleshooting and stitching, you’ll surprise yourself.
Culture of Care - We run Repair Walks, advocate for right to repair, refurbish wheelchairs, and create storybooks for kids.
