About Textile, Toy & Bag Mending
You do not need an expensive sewing machine to save your wardrobe. At our workshops, we focus on manual hand-stitching and darning techniques that you can replicate at home. Bring a torn shirt, a bag with a busted seam, or a stuffed toy that needs a bit of surgery, and we will guide you through the repair process step-by-step.
Everything has a story, and a small tear does not mean the end of that story. Our Repair Cafes in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad are spaces where we gather to slow down and value what we own. Whether it is a backpack with a failing zipper, a much-loved stuffed animal that lost an eye, or a skirt that snagged on a nail, these items often just need a little patience and the right needlework.
We teach foundational stitches like the running stitch, backstitch, and whip stitch, which are the bread and butter of garment repair. You will also learn how to create patches that actually look good, turning a blemish into a design feature. We supply the thread, needles, and fabric scraps, while you bring the curiosity and the item.
When you arrive, you will find a workspace set up for textile mending. Our volunteer mentors, who are fellow DIY enthusiasts, will help you diagnose the issue. Sometimes, an item cannot be fully restored to its original state, and that is perfectly okay. We value the effort of trying just as much as the result of a finished mend. It is about building confidence, saving resources, and connecting with neighbors who care about keeping things out of landfills.
