Project 'A Den': Modern South Indian Interior Design
In this 1,115 sq. ft. Mumbai home, we blended the client's South Indian roots with a modern, minimalist soul. We focused on earthy tones and intentional craftsmanship to create a space that feels deeply personal and perfectly curated.
We designed this cozy reading nook in warm terracotta tones with intricate dotted accents on the wall. The snug lounger and stylish planters create a serene, contemporary, and sleek ambiance.

About Project 'A Den': South Indian Warmth, Modern Soul
When we design a fusion home, it is not about scattering traditional artifacts; it is about making them part of the architecture. For this project, we integrated a brass diya and Kalamkari art by anchoring them against a neutral backdrop of clay brick tiles and warm, earthy textures. It is a delicate balance of honoring a heritage while maintaining a clean, modern flow that avoids visual clutter.
Our approach to 'A Den' was to strip back the excess and focus on the quiet conversation between the modern and the traditional. We started with the foyer, using clay brick tiles to create a sense of height and texture that immediately grounds the space. By introducing a grey-tinted glass partition to separate the kitchen from the living area, we maintained a visual connection without sacrificing the privacy needed for a bustling Mumbai household.
The furniture was another layer of our process. Rather than sourcing ready-made pieces, we custom-built the travertine dining table with its distinct turned wooden legs to serve as a sculptural center. Every element, from the bespoke lighting to the hand-upholstered headboard, serves a purpose. This is our version of understated luxury. It is not just about expensive finishes, but about how materials like wood, fabric, and stone interact to create a rhythm.
