Creating peaceful Mumbai sanctuaries by blending traditional craftsmanship with natural, tactile materials like wood, stone, and cane.

This living room is the heart of a home designed for tranquility. Sunlight streams in, highlighting the geometric floor tiles and the rich textures of the wooden furniture. A custom cane partition offers a glimpse into the dining area, creating an open yet intimate feel.

Arches are a recurring motif we use to soften spaces and add a traditional touch. Here, an archway frames a view of the living room, where a classic wooden swing and a comfortable teal sofa create an inviting atmosphere for relaxation.

This view showcases the open and flowing layout of the home. From the entryway, you can see through to the dining nook and living area, with custom wooden furniture and soft, textured walls creating a cohesive and welcoming journey through the space.

The dining area is a perfect blend of natural textures and traditional craftsmanship. A live-edge wooden table is paired with cane-backed chairs, set against a stunning tropical wallpaper mural that acts as a focal point within an arched niche.

A closer look at the dining nook, where rattan pendant lights hang above a solid wood table. The custom wallpaper, featuring muted tropical palms, adds depth and artistry to the space, enhancing the home's connection to nature.

This kitchen combines traditional patterns with modern functionality. We chose sage green for the cabinetry and paired it with patterned tiles for both the floor and backsplash, creating a space that is full of character, warmth, and vintage charm.

The open kitchen overlooks the dining and living areas, making it a central part of the home. A wooden rafter detail on the ceiling helps define the kitchen space while adding a rustic, textural element that complements the home's traditional aesthetic.

In this kitchen, we used a soft, powder blue for the cabinetry to create a calm and airy feel. The clean lines of the shaker-style cabinets are paired with a simple white countertop and a large window that fills the space with natural light.

This master bedroom is a tribute to traditional Indian craftsmanship. The bed features classic turned wood posts, and the wall behind it is adorned with a beautiful floral wallpaper, framed by wooden panels to create a bespoke feature.

For the parents' room, we used a two-tone color scheme with white and teal. The lower half of the walls and the louvered wardrobe doors are painted in a calming teal, which adds a subtle pop of color while maintaining a serene atmosphere.

About Textural & Traditional Sanctuaries

We don't just decorate; we rework structural layouts to invite calm. In this project, we combined two separate apartment units to create a spacious 4BHK. By using a palette of sage green cabinetry and traditional patterned tiles, we broke up the typical apartment rigidity while keeping the flow open and airy.

For us, design is about more than just aesthetics; it is about creating a sanctuary that combats the intensity of living in a city like Mumbai. Our approach to the 'Textural and Traditional' style relies on specific materiality to shift the mood of a home. We use natural elements like solid wood, cane, and stone to ground the space, ensuring it feels warm and lived-in rather than sterile.

Designing for Fluidity

When we approach a floor plan, we look for opportunities to increase volume. Whether it is tearing down a non-structural wall to merge two flats or creating entrance foyers, our goal is to improve the internal flow. In our residential projects, you will often find us incorporating architectural arches—a motif that softens corners and adds a sense of traditional grandeur without feeling dated.

The Role of Color and Texture

Color blocking is a tool we use to define zones without building permanent barriers. By pairing bold, earthy tones like sage green or deep teal with neutral plaster finishes, we create visual interest that remains soothing. Custom furniture is a non-negotiable part of our process; we design wardrobes, vanities, and dining tables to fit the unique dimensions of each home, ensuring every piece serves a functional purpose while contributing to the overall narrative of the room.
