Retail Landscape Design That Creates a Living Experience
We don't just decorate retail spaces; we build ecosystems. Our approach transforms commercial storefronts into immersive garden environments where the landscape does the heavy lifting, inviting customers to slow down, explore, and stay a while.

Inside the Beruru store, the retail space is designed as an eclectic garden courtyard. A mix of terracotta warriors, ornate chairs, and diverse planters are arranged under the canopy of a large, existing tree.
A long view through the central axis of the store, which is designed like a greenhouse gallery. The translucent roof with bamboo shades filters the sunlight, creating a perfect environment for both plants and shoppers.
The flooring of black stone pavers and the semi-covered roof create a comfortable, all-weather space for browsing. A variety of planters, furniture, and water features are carefully arranged to create distinct zones.
The layout of the store encourages wandering and discovery. Here, a path of black and white checkered tiles leads towards a glasshouse structure, with an array of pots and planters displayed like treasures.
Water is a key sensory element in the design. This feature combines traditional stone sculptures with the gentle sound of flowing water, creating a tranquil focal point within the bustling retail environment.
Quiet seating nooks are scattered throughout the garden store. This small corner provides a place to pause, surrounded by lush foliage and curated garden decor, blurring the line between a cafe and a retail space.

About Retail & Garden Design
The true test of a retail garden is the threshold—the moment a visitor steps from the noise of a city street into your space. For the Beruru flagship store on Lavelle Road, we didn't just add plants; we designed a transition gate and screen that mentally signals to the customer that they have entered a different world. This pause isn't accidental; it is a deliberate architectural choice to lower the pulse and increase dwell time.
When we approach retail design, we stop thinking about storefronts and start thinking about ecosystems. A successful retail garden is not just decoration. It is a living infrastructure that actively influences how a customer moves, breathes, and lingers within a store.
Our process begins with 'reading' the site. We analyze how light moves through the space, how air flows, and how the surrounding urban noise can be dampened by specific plant typologies.
Sensory Mapping
We don't simply select plants for their appearance. We curate for the senses. In spaces like Beruru, the choice of specimen trees and fragrant climbers is tactical. We use texture and scent to build a deeper connection between the visitor and the space. When a retail environment engages touch and smell, the product becomes part of a narrative rather than just an item on a shelf.
The Technical Foundation
It is easy to make a garden look lush for an opening; it is harder to make it function over time. Our retail designs are grounded in solid engineering:
- Root-Barrier Systems: Essential for podiums and planters to protect the building structure.
- Automated Irrigation: We ensure the greenery thrives with minimal maintenance intervention.
- Materiality: We focus on natural stone pavers, permeable surfaces, and sustainable decking that withstands high footfall while maintaining an organic aesthetic.
Whether it is a high-density terrace or a flagship ground-level store, we blend civil engineering with ecological planning. Our goal is to ensure the 'retail-as-garden' vision remains vibrant and sustainable, serving as a quiet, productive retreat from the busy streets of Namma Bengaluru.
