Hospitality and Commercial Landscape Design
In commercial environments, landscape is a performance variable, not just decoration. I design spaces for restaurants, clubs, and offices that define social flow, manage acoustics, and enhance brand identity through living infrastructure.

The open cafe space at Karnataka Golf Association, designed for calm and connection. Large planters with broad-leafed plants are used to define seating areas and create a sense of intimacy within the large, open-plan space.

An evening view of the KGA cafe, where the landscape design is enhanced by strategic lighting. The planters and hanging ferns create soft shadows and a warm, inviting atmosphere for members and guests.
Planters with a mix of upright and variegated plants create natural partitions between tables at the KGA cafe. This ensures privacy for diners while maintaining a sense of connection to the overall space.

The central bar at the Karnataka Golf Association, with integrated overhead planters. This design brings greenery into the heart of the social space, softening the architectural structure and adding a touch of living art.

About Hospitality & Commercial Environments
When approaching hospitality environments, I prioritize the relationship between traffic flow and plant placement. At the Karnataka Golf Association, we didn't just add greenery; we used vertical gardens to act as acoustic buffers, significantly reducing noise levels in the dining area. Before you plan your layout, consider that we treat these green zones as operational tools to define seating boundaries and improve air quality, not just as aesthetic filler.
Hospitality projects require a different logic than residential design. In a high-traffic space like a restaurant, a club, or a professional golf association, the landscape must withstand rigorous daily use while actively contributing to the business's operational goals.
Strategic Design for Commercial Spaces
My work centers on transforming underutilized areas into high-value assets. Whether it is an open-plan cafe or an industrial-style brewery facade, the goal is to use biophilic principles to solve specific architectural challenges:
- Acoustic Management: Large, open commercial spaces often suffer from echo. Strategic placement of vertical gardens and dense foliage absorbs sound, creating an environment where conversation is easy.
- Spatial Definition: Instead of permanent walls that make a space feel rigid, I use integrated planter systems to create natural partitions. This provides privacy for guests in a restaurant setting without closing off the room.
- Microclimate Control: For outdoor or semi-open areas, the right plant density reduces ambient temperature and improves airflow, making these spaces usable even during peak afternoon hours.
Why Performance Matters
For clients like the Karnataka Golf Association or Big Pitcher, the landscape is part of the member or customer experience. It is a tool for retention. When a space feels 'breathable' and calm, people linger longer, and their experience of the venue is fundamentally improved. I handle the end-to-end execution, ensuring that the irrigation, soil system, and plant species selection are engineered to last with minimal downtime for your team. We align our design with your brand identity to ensure the greenery feels like a native extension of the architecture, not an add-on.
Green World Design
I am Rohana Sarah. I founded Green World Design because I saw too many commercial spaces where nature was treated as an afterthought. I work with business owners and architects who realize that landscaping is a critical asset that influences customer experience and indoor air quality.
