About Guru-Shishya Parampara: My Academy & Tributes
Through Swar Sanskruti Music Academy, I bring the traditional guru-shishya parampara into a modern setting. We host annual Guruvandan tributes in Mumbai, where my students perform alongside maestros like Pt. Yogesh Samsi, providing a real-world stage for the next generation of sitarists.
At Swar Sanskruti Music Academy, we focus on the foundation of Indian classical music. It is not just about learning notes. It is about the riyaz, or practice, that truly shapes a musician. My teaching is rooted in the Jafferkhani Baaj style, which I inherited from my guru, Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan.
We conduct structured sitar workshops for all levels, ensuring that students get both individual attention and the exposure of performing live. A major highlight of our calendar is Guruvandan, an annual tribute where our academy students share the stage with musical icons. It gives them the chance to see how legends like Pt. Yogesh Samsi or Sivamani ji approach their music.
Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the basics or an advanced student ready to refine your technique, my academy provides a space to connect with the authentic lineage of our music. We welcome anyone who wants to learn the sitar with dedication and respect for the tradition.
