About From the Studio: Original Compositions
When I step into the studio, it is not just about recording, but continuing the dialogue between my sitar and other instruments. Whether I am blending the serenity of Raag Vachaspati with deep bass lines or finding a pocket for electronic drums in Raag Shree, my studio work is where I explore the boundaries of my instrument.
My musical journey, or 'Swar Yatra', does not end on the concert stage. The studio is my sanctuary where I distill the essence of years of practice into original compositions. These tracks represent my ongoing experiments with fusion, bringing the traditional sitar into conversation with jazz, rock, and world music elements.
I treat every recording session with the same discipline as a classical 'riyaz' (practice). When I work at places like Yash Raj Studios, the goal is always to achieve sonic clarity without losing the organic soul of the sitar. My collaborations with artists like Sheldon D’Silva or Shikharnaad Qureshi are born out of a desire to see how a raga breathes in a modern, rhythmic setting.
If you are listening to these tracks to decide on the right sound for your upcoming event, you will notice the range I offer. From the meditative, traditional 'Jog Kauns' meant for intimate baithaks, to the high-energy, electric fusion tracks suitable for larger corporate galas or festivals, these recordings are a window into what I can bring to your space. If you like a specific sound here, let me know, and we can explore how to translate that energy to your event.
