My performance needs shift depending on the format you choose. For a solo baithak, I require a simple riser and minimal mic setup for an intimate sound. However, if you are looking at the Sitar Symphony or the Indo-Jazz fusion band, we need a dedicated soundcheck and specific stage dimensions to ensure the acoustics are perfect. It is best to chat about your venue layout early so I can suggest the right configuration.
My musical journey, or 'swar yatra', covers a wide range of needs. If you are hosting a corporate gala, wedding, or cultural festival, I help you select the format that fits the mood.
My Performance Formats
- Solo Recital: Perfect for smaller spaces or intimate gatherings where you want a meditative, soulful atmosphere. I focus on the traditional progression of the raag, from the slow aalap to the lively jhala.
- Jugalbandi: A friendly musical dialogue, usually with a tabla player. It brings a dynamic, spontaneous energy to the room.
- Indo-Jazz Fusion (Ravi Chary Crossing): If you want something high-energy, this blend of sitar with western drums, bass, and keys is ideal for lively corporate events or Sangeet nights.
- Sitar Symphony: For grand entrances or major festivals, my ensemble of 15-20 sitarists creates a powerful, symmetrical wall of sound that leaves an impact.
Venue & Logistics
I have performed in spaces ranging from the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur to intimate temple settings in Mumbai. Whether it is an indoor stage or an outdoor lawn, my team and I handle the technical setup to ensure the music stays true to its roots.
