Meet Fine Artist and Educator Rajesh Sawant
I am Rajesh Sawant. My life’s work is balanced between creating art that honors our history and guiding the next generation of students through the rigorous traditions of painting.
A recent photograph of me. As an artist and teacher, I am always ready to explore new creative paths.
A candid moment of reflection. My art and my teaching are both inspired by the world around me.
A portrait of me. I believe in presenting myself with the same professionalism and dedication that I bring to my art.
Another photograph of me, taken during an outdoor event.
A picture taken during an evening event. My passion for art is a constant, day and night.
Here I am, standing amidst traditional Indian architectural carvings, which are a great source of inspiration for my work.
About About Me
When you learn from me, you enter a disciplined space where art is treated with the same respect as a traditional craft. I focus on academic realism—anatomy, lighting, and perspective—rather than just hobby painting. If you are serious about mastering the fundamentals or preparing for competitive juries, my studio in Nashik is where we build that foundation together.
My journey as an artist is deeply rooted in 'bharatiya aitihasik sanskriti' (Indian historical culture). Whether I am painting portraits of freedom fighters or capturing the nuance of spiritual themes, my work is driven by the discipline passed down to me by my Gurus, including my father and the respected Padma Shri Vasudevji Kamath.
My Philosophy on Art Education
I believe that true growth in art happens when instruction goes beyond casual praise. As someone who has judged state, national, and international competitions, I understand the technical precision that juries look for. In my studio, we do not just paint for fun. We work on:
- Academic Realism: Mastering anatomy, composition, and medium control with oil, acrylic, or watercolor.
- Competitive Strategy: Analyzing what makes an artwork stand out on a national stage.
- Portfolio Development: Practical guidance for students applying to art colleges or preparing for exhibitions.
Learning at My Studio
My approach is based on the traditional Guru-Shishya bond. This means you get honest, critical feedback on your work. Whether you are a school student or a professional artist, I provide the same level of attention to your technical improvement. We work in a quiet, focused environment in Nashik, ensuring that your time is spent making real progress. If you are ready to put in the hours, I am here to guide you.
Rajesh Sawant
I paint to keep our history alive, but my true joy lies in teaching. I guide students by passing on the disciplined lessons I learned from my own Gurus, helping you find your voice through hard work and practice.
