Film & Character Costume Design Services
Every character tells a story. From the intense looks of a thriller to the vibrant energy of a festive song, I design costumes that bring the narrative to life on screen.
This is the final look for Kubbra Sait's character, Mehwish, in 'Son of Sardaar 2'. The sparkling, sheer mini dress was chosen to celebrate her character's unapologetic and chaotic energy, making a bold statement in her final scenes.
Another shot of Mehwish's final look, capturing the dynamic and confident attitude of the character. The styling, complete with playful hair and strappy heels, was all about creating a memorable, high-fashion moment.
A close-up on the embellished details of the dress for Kubbra Sait's character. The stardust effect of the fabric was meant to make her shine on screen, reflecting her larger-than-life personality.
The complete look for Mehwish was designed to be a celebration of her madness and unapologetic style. This pose captures the essence of a character who is confident, daring, and always in the spotlight.
A full-length view of Kubbra Sait as Mehwish. The modern silhouette and sparkling details of this outfit were a perfect match for the song sequence, showcasing a different side of costume design within the same film.
A black and white portrait of Ajay Devgn, styled for the film 'Shaitaan'. The look is understated yet intense, featuring a simple jacket and polo shirt to create a serious and brooding character persona.
Another portrait from the 'Shaitaan' styling session. The focus here is on creating a mood through simple, classic menswear pieces that allow the actor's performance to take center stage.
For this look, we added tinted eyewear to Ajay Devgn's ensemble. Accessories like these are subtle but powerful tools in character styling, adding a layer of mystery or coolness to the persona.
Styling the incredible R. Madhavan for 'Shaitaan'. This portrait captures the sophisticated and intense character we built for him, using a dark, structured jacket to create a powerful and enigmatic presence.
Adding glasses to R. Madhavan's look for 'Shaitaan'. This simple change shifts the character's feel, adding an intellectual or calculating dimension. It shows how small adjustments can have a big impact on character perception.
About More Film & Character Work
Costume design is more than just picking outfits, it is about defining who a character is before they even speak. Whether I am adding tinted eyewear to build a sense of mystery or choosing a specific jacket cut to project power, every fabric, color, and accessory is a deliberate choice. I work closely with directors and actors to ensure that what you see on screen is an authentic reflection of the script, not just a surface-level style statement.
My role as a costume designer goes beyond selecting garments. For projects like Shaitaan, the focus was on building an intense, calculated persona using structured menswear and specific accessories. For others, like the song sequences in Son of Sardaar 2, it involved balancing bold color palettes with mixed textures to match high-energy movement.
I handle the entire creative pipeline, from the initial script breakdown to the final on-set fitting. My process often involves weeks of sourcing, where I might mix rare finds from a local bazaar in Mumbai with pieces from international design houses to get the texture and fit exactly right for the camera.
My Approach to Character Architecture
- Script Analysis: I begin by breaking down the character's emotional journey to determine their visual needs.
- Technical Precision: I coordinate with cinematographers to ensure fabrics react correctly to lighting and camera setups, preventing unwanted sheen or color clashes.
- On-Set Continuity: Whether it is a feature film or a music video, I manage the wardrobe department on-site. This includes ensuring continuity across multiple takes and rapid changes for lead actors.
- Resource Management: I oversee the wardrobe budget, invoice tracking, and logistics, ensuring we have duplicates for stunt work or backups for unexpected on-set damage.
